Revised 2nd Edition - More for Your Money
This Revised 2nd edition of The Mystery of History Volume 1 includes 144 pages of new material. While maintaining the same theme and format as the 1st edition, this new edition has improved lessons, more activities and teacher support, improved layout, art and photos, simplified timelines, and more.

All You Need to Teach History from Ancient Civilizations through the Time of Christ
Written by home-school mom Linda Hobar, The Mystery of History is one spectacular masterpiece. It is all your family will need to teach history from ancient civilizations through to the time of Christ. Written in a conversational style for the fourth- through eighth-grade reader, The Mystery of History can also be used as a read-aloud with younger children.

Multi-Age Activities
Not just a textbook, it is brimming with multi-age activities, book and video lists, memory helps, and timeline suggestions. What appeals to us most about this program is its worldwide approach to history.

Teaches History from Creation to the Resurrection
Did you know that less than ten years after Jonah's trial in a fish, Rome was being established? Or that the last book of the Old Testament was written at about the time of Alexander the Great and that the Great Wall of China was built 200 years before the birth of Christ?

Combines Biblical & Secular History
As they read the Bible, Christians tend to forget that there were other civilizations warring, struggling, and searching for truth. So this history program is written with both Biblical and secular history combined. While decidedly Christian in bent, other cultures and faiths are presented with deference.

108 Lessons
The Mystery of History was designed with a thirty-six-week school year in mind. Each week includes a pre-test, three lessons, a review, and an exercise or quiz. If your family is ready to study history in an in-depth, Bible-centered, chronological fashion, The Mystery of History is for you.

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2016 Seventh-Grade Curriculum Kit!

    Great Book April 16, 2014
    Reviewer: Adria W.
I bought this book for my 8 year old son to add to our night time book reading. I don't home school (even though I wish I was able too) I really just wanted something that would bring some interesting reading to bedtime. He isn't big on school in general so I wasn't sure how he would take to it but he has fallen in love with this book. It is now a nightly read with him doing the pre-test for the chapter we're on. We haven't done any of the end of chapter homework section but it does seem to be very geared to any level with fun activities. I would recommend this book for anyone be it home school or just for fun...Very impressed.

Mystery of History Vol 1 November 1, 2013
    Reviewer: Angela O.
We purchased this intending to use it for both our 7th and 4th graders. We ended up going with something different for our 7th grader. I think this will be a great resource for another year as it is completely adaptable for multiple students of many grades. Our 4th grader seemed to enjoy the level of the text, and we appreciate the Christian focus and perspective into world history.

Great Combination of Bible and History August 19, 2013
    Reviewer: Celena Marie
This year, we began to use this curriculum and we love it! The series starts with this one: The Mystery Begins (Creation-1199 BC). I like this book so much because it combines Bible History with World History. And why should they be separate? Simple--they shouldn't! This way, it's "Classical, Chronological, & Complete" as the author says. Today, we finished up the first week of The Mystery of History. We studied the lessons Creation (4004 BC), Adam and Eve (4004 BC), Jubal and Tubal Cain (10 Generations after Adam), and Noah & The Flood (2349 BC). The author, Linda Hobar, explains the dating system she uses (it's called the Ussher Chronology), smoothly combines biblical references with other historical records and scientific references, and has written these texts in a way such that they can be used with students of any age. At the end of each short lesson in the actual text, there are discussion questions for 3 age-groups of children. Highly recommend!

an awesome book June 28, 2013
    Reviewer: mismatched98
I have been doing home schooling for a fews years now. It is so hard to find complete ssubjects. When I found this website and order this book, it changed the whole home schooling idea for me. This book is amazing. It is writing to keep a child's intrest. My son loved it. Getting him to read other histroy books was like pulling teeth. With this one, loves to read it and do the activies. He even gets his younger sisters involed. It as also helped him to understand the Bible a little more.My son can't wait to start the second book. I would most definitely recommend this book.

    Love MOH January 15, 2013
    Reviewer: irelandfamily
I have a 12, 10, 9, and a 6 year old. We have been working our way through MOH. I really like that is a complete history not just world history. Growing up I learned bible stories at church and history at school, never really putting the two of them together until now. I have been learning right along with my kids. We don't do the activities but we have been doing the timeline by Amy Pak. We also took the time to do the Old Testament lapbook study by Amy Pak when we came to the correct time in the study. We will do more lapbooking as we go along. I would suggest getting the "printable reproducibles" to go along with it. We do the after quizzes and chapter tests together. They are then placed in a note book for future reference. I also got the audio but found we don't really use it much. If you spend a lot of time in a car or your kids are audio learners it would be a great addition. I haven't found anything that I don't like about this history.
