Math 6: Another Superb Math Program
Yet another superb math program designed specifically for homeschoolers, Teaching Textbooks Math 6 includes a 623-page consumable workbook, a print answer booklet, and four CD-ROMs that contain lesson instructions and step-by-step audiovisual solutions to every one of the thousands of homework and test problems.

Topics Covered
The program has a total of 116 lessons and 19 quizzes. It covers all the topics normally found in sixth-grade school texts including fractions, decimals, percents, simple geometry, units of measure, probability, bar and circle graphs, and equation-solving. Math 6 also has a digital gradebook that grades answers as soon as they are entered and calculates percentages for each assignment. As Teaching Textbooks' focus shifts to meet the needs of younger children, this program just gets better and better.

Complete Set Provides Everything Your Child Needs
Most families purchase the complete set, including the instructional CDs, consumable workbook, and answer booklet. The CDs give your student clear, interesting lectures for every lesson, along with detailed step-by-step solutions for all of the problems. The workbook not only provides a convenient place for students to work on the problems without having to copy each one onto separate paper, it also gives students written lesson summaries for them to refer to while doing the problems, and gives your children the option of carrying their work with them away from the computer for added mobility after they’ve watched the lesson.

CDs-only Option May Work for Some Families
Some families choose to buy the CDs only for Math 6 and use them without the workbook. While this option will be less expensive, keep in mind that your child will need to keep a notebook to copy the problems into to work on them, and will lose the other benefits mentioned above of owning the workbook. Please note that you also will not receive the answer booklet with the CDs-only purchase.

Extra Workbooks Available for Additional Students
If you appreciate the benefits of using the Teaching Textbooks workbook, you’ll be pleased to know you can also purchase extra workbooks for additional students without having to buy a complete extra Teaching Textbooks set. If you have two students doing this grade together or another student coming up to this grade, and already own the CDs, click here to purchase an extra workbook. Please note that the CDs are required for this course, as the workbook alone will not contain all of the instructional content.

About Teaching Textbooks

Math for Homeschoolers
A number of years ago we did the unthinkable and took a poke at a sacred cow when we said that we didn't like the conventional big-name homeschool math programs. Though some families were steadfast in their defense, there has since been an increasing number of families who have come to realize that math programs originally designed to be used in government schools are wholly inadequate to meet the needs of home educators.

You Don't Have to be a Math Teacher!
What is wrong with adapting a school-based text for home use? There are a couple of significant issues with doing that. First, because a typical school text assumes a knowledgeable math teacher, the explanations are often meager and brief. If you double as a math teacher, this will present no problem to you. However, many parents either did not take upper level math as a teen, or if they did, the process is just a distant, unpleasant memory. So sparse explanations in typical texts can be frustrating to both child and parent. Second, government schools' math texts often contain excessive use of terminology, making simple ideas seem complex.

Designed for Independent Learners
The Teaching Textbooks series is produced with home educators in mind, so it tackles those issues head-on. Firstly, since the program is designed specifically for independent learners, it offers far more explanation than any others on the market, and the tone is friendly and conversational. What ultimately sold me on this program are their computer CDs with down-to-earth, step-by-step multimedia solutions for every problem in the book, plus complete step-by-step solutions for every test problem.

Friendly Conversational Tone
The lectures - one for each lesson in the textbook - provide hours of instruction. Students will appreciate listening to (and watching) an explanation for each lesson rather than reading it out of a book. Designed for homeschoolers studying independently, Teaching Textbooks uses far less irrelevant jargon than other textbooks, while still retaining all the terms that students need to know for those important standardized tests, and the tone is friendly and conversational. This is a brilliant idea, long overdue and skillfully done.

Workbook Includes Lesson Summaries
The Teaching Textbooks program also incorporates a workbook in which your child will do daily math assignments. Designed specifically for independent learners, the Teaching Textbooks workbook contains a summary of the lectures from the CD, which allows your child to review key points from the lesson as necessary while working the problems. The workbook also comes with an answer key and a test bank.

Review Method
The Teaching Textbooks series has been field-tested with outstanding results. Like other quality math programs, Teaching Textbooks uses the review method because it is a proven method for ensuring children are able to master difficult subjects such as algebra and geometry. Students using Teaching Textbooks are fully prepared for College Board examinations and college courses. Enjoyable, efficient, and effective, what more could you want from a math program?

We love this program January 13, 2016
    Reviewer: Linda
With starting homeschool this year, math was my biggest fear. It was my least favorite subject and it seemed to be my daughter's problem area. Not with this program, she is doing amazing with math. We love how it is both a book and a program on the computer. She will listen to the preview on the computer and then do the lessons in the book and check her work on the computer. She has found it so helpful. Also their customer support is fantastic. We have to update her computer and had problems reinstalling the disc and in 5 minutes with their tech support, it was good as new.

Be Sure To Take The Placement Test! September 25, 2015
    Reviewer: Deja
We just switched to Teaching Textbooks and didn't even look at the placement test. My daughter was beginning 5th grade math but when the books arrived we realized she had done most of it already. So, thankfully Timberdoodle is awesome at returns and took them back no problem and we now have level 6. My daughter is loving this curriculum. Usually math is really boring for her (because she is so good at it), but with the teaching textbooks she likes the online classroom and the little "buddies" that cheer her on. I love that it gives feedback for every problem if needed and spirals backwards so she can really learn the work. Great program!

This is the only math you need! March 4, 2015
    Reviewer: MandyJHoffman
My friends raved about Teaching Textbooks. I looked them up online and quite honestly, was not impressed. However, EVERY single friend I asked for math advice from highly recommended Teaching Textbooks. So I decided to give them a try and I am SO glad I did! When I installed the program and actually got on to use it myself I quickly understood how to use it, and how it worked and then it all made sense. My kids quickly caught on and loved it! It makes math easy for all of us. If I don't understand, I'm able to do the lesson with them and never yet have I not been able to help after a mini refresher. But I don't often have to help them because TT does a fabulous job at explaining, re-explaining, correcting, showing, encouraging, and on and on I could go. It took a dreaded subject and made it fun for students and teachers. Including those who cry at the mention of "math".
