"I am not a science-person AT ALL. It is definitely not my forte. That being said, we adored this product & my son learned so much without me being an expert in the least. It includes a little bit of everything, so it is easy to bounce from experiment to experiment. My son (7yrs) pretty much led the way with his questions & we worked together & learned! How fun. The projects are easy, fun & the lessons are simple enough for a small brain to process but not too simple to be found boring..."

Overpriced and not for preschoolers March 1, 2017
Reviewer: Liz S. from Merced, CA United States
At first, I was pleased to have a hands-on science kit for my four year old, but I was very disappointed.

The lessons are on topics better suited to older children (maybe age 6 and up). My son enjoys playing with the test tubes and pipette (dropper), but the concepts are way over his head. Explaining chemical reactions in a way a four year can understand is...impossible. I'm hoping to save this kit for when my son is older.

For what was included in this kit, I was shocked it was priced at over $50. The kit has plastic test tubes, an assortment of plastic cups, trays, and a mess of six kinds of absorbant polymers (which I found very redundant), and a few other odd things.

On the whole, this is a novel science kit and my son has had some (limited) fun with it. But, if I'm going to sink $50+ into it, I'd at least like him to actually be the right age to learn the material. I would advise Timberdoodle to reconsider recommending this for preschoolers.

My son liked it alot more than I did February 28, 2017
Reviewer: Sarah Clark-Wamuhiu from TN United States
I purchased this for my son when he was 4.  We still have alot of the items 2 years later.  I really appreciated the quality of the test tubes and magnifying glass.  We found the activities in the included book a bit boring and a little over the head of a preschooler or kindergartener.  We ended up just playing around with the different items included and not following the activity guide.  My son LOVED the growing spider and starfish.  We did the spider a number of times.  The starfish broke once it grew so we didn't get to do it again.  I'm not sure he learned much from it but he had lots of fun.

Science with Tots Deluxe Kit January 18, 2017
Reviewer: Ruby, age 4.5 from USA
I really like it. My favorite part about it is that it is great to do it together with friends. Mommy says she thinks that really this kit could do better with a slightly higher age. There are many experiments that Mommy finds that I don't quite understand. If she were to do the year over she would hold off this science kit for Kindergarten or First Grade. Mommy also feels that this is a great kit for a mixed group of kids up to 8 years old.  Mommy knocks off stars for the fact that a few of the experiments aren't that great and overall is a little too advanced to really gain much at the Pre-K level. Due to this mommy would only give it 3.5 stars.

My favorite one was making fizzing colored water (with the color tablets) and seeing the spider grow in water!
