A solid foundation for fluency

Rosetta Stone provides up to three levels of instruction, beginning with a foundation of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. With Rosetta Stone, your children will do more than learn about a language. They'll learn to use it.

Better than lower price "knock off" July 18, 2012
    Reviewer: blessed4xover
We bought Rosetta Stone Spanish, thinking to use it with all three or our older children. My younger daughter, however, really wanted to learn French instead. So we bought an inexpensive "look alike" curriculum claiming to have the same content as Rosetta Stone, which was a totally false claim. After plodding through Level 1 and learning almost nothing, we bit the bullet and bought Rosetta Stone. Our daughter says rosetta Stone is much better, for the following reasons. The other program allows you to work on things in a random order, which gives a false sense of making progress, while RS plans the lessons in an orderly manner. The other program uses some English and the corresponding French, but no written words, so you can't see the written French. Rosetta Stone uses no English, but shows you the word in French, which is a huge help in pronunciation. Rosetta Stone also charts progress and gives grades, which the other program did not. Besides which, it is just better produced and less frustrating, which means French is an enjoyable subject and not a chore. Rosetta Stone costs much more, but you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Great for learning 2 languages at a time October 3, 2011
    Reviewer: Jennifer D. from Colorado
I purchased level I (both Spanish and French) for my first grader and 4th grader. I think I was a bit crazy for wanting to try 2 languages but it has been a great success so far. We tend to travel quite a bit so we feel it a necesary skill. In the box you get a great set of headphones and a cd for worksheets and an audio cd for in your car. The homeschool edition keeps track of grades and progress and it requires a good score before it will check off an assigment as complete. However, you can still move forward if you don't redo that section. My 4th grader has no trouble from the beginning of each core section. My 1st grader struggles a bit at the beginning but by the end is at the same level as his brother. An added bonus since we are using 2 languages is that it covers the exact same material in each course making learning both a lot easier!

French Rosetta Stone September 27, 2011
Reviewer: Christie Lyons from Clinton, IL United States
We finally took the plunge and bought the French Rosetta Stone for our high-school student.  She was so eager to get started, and has spent many hours learning her new language.
The program was so engaging that four of our other children begged to be allowed to "learn French" too.  Not only do the children enjoy the program itself, but they have started using French words and phrases in every-day life.
Now I want to purchase a few other languages just for the fun of it.  Who knew learning languages could be so fun???

    Side notes:
    1.  You might like a different headset than the one provided.
    2.  We have found it essential to our success to adjust the preferences to "easy" for the speaking parts.  The computer is very picky and it needs to be on the easiest setting for the children to be "understood".  :-)

Very useful software June 7, 2011
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Alameda, CA United States
We used this software as a supplement to a French class at a local community college.  It is a great vocabulary builder.  The presentation is pretty, and it's enjoyable to use.  The software gives feedback on pronunciation.  Speakers within the software are native speakers.  Rosetta Stone was an invaluable tool, and it would have been useful even without the community college class.

Well worth the price February 19, 2009
    Reviewer: Jamie from Edmond, OK
I hesitated and thought over this purchase for several years. After viewing the demo and thinking about it some more, I finally took the plunge. I can now say that this product is well worth the price. For user-friendliness it just can't be beat. The teaching method is wonderful and very effective. Grading is easy as the program tracks progress automatically for teacher review. We are very pleased with this product. Get the free demo and check it out. Although it could be used earlier, we use Rosetta Stone to fulfill high school foreign language requirements.
