Timberdoodle's review
Jump In
By the time your child hits middle school you will be glad to find an easy-to-use creative writing program that is aimed at independent learning. Jump Inís illustrated workbook, lots of white space, large font, and short incremental daily assignments camouflage the workhorse that it is, teaching your child how to write persuasive papers, expository essays, descriptions, narration, and poetry.

The necessary parent/teacher guide includes how to evaluate an assignment, how to help your child proofread, and daily writing prompts designed to appeal to this age group. Jump Inís highly engaging, light-hearted tone takes the tears out of creative writing.

Bundle includes Jump In Student and Jump In "The Lifeguard's Locker" Teacher Manual.

Note: To build persuasive writing skills, Jump In encourages your child to write about any controversial topic of their choosing. Two suggested topics, among many others, are abortion and homosexual marriages. We feel that in most families this will be age-appropriate, and that Jump In, written from a Christian perspective, will not be offensive to you. However, if you have never discussed these issues with your child, you will want to be aware of their inclusion in Jump In.

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2017 Fifth-Grade Curriculum Kit!

Great Book For My Reluctant Writer September 25, 2015
Reviewer: Deja
My daughter's least favorite subject is writing. She finds it super boring. This book has changed that. They focus on the love of writing while sneaking in lessons and helping her to become a better writer. The book is designed to be used for two whole years so that makes it a great value. I really like how everything is broken down and explained in clear English. They keep the stress out of writing and really teach a student how to work through the writing process. They break the writing up into small prompts just to get the brain juices flowing with longer papers that are finished over a week to two week period so the child doesn't fell overwhelmed. This is just what I needed to get my daughter to like writing. The only slight complaint is that the paper in which it is printed on is so nice I hate writing in the book so we use loose paper for assignments, but the plus to that is that it's ready for my son to use in a couple of years.
