    Great Book June 22, 2014
    Reviewer: Sarah W.
Got this for my 3 year old last year and we have worked through it slowly. He is a perfectionist so got frustrated with it once it got a little bit harder (tracing shapes) so we put it away for a while. For us starting with Pasting and Coloring would have been the best then progressing to Tracing and Cutting. (This is what I ended up doing after trying to do a little bit from each Coloring, Tracing and Cutting). I love the bright pictures and the variety of skills that it teaches and that it ends with teaching how to write each letter.

Nice, but not ideal June 21, 2014
    Reviewer: Brianna
While I enjoy some of the other books in this series, the I Can Trace book is not ideal for us. I bought it for my fourth child because of number of pages for the price. It is a good deal! Compared to the tracing book I'd bought before, though, we didn't enjoy it as much. The reason that we didn't enjoy it had to do with the bright colors and the thick, dark dotted lines that the child is supposed to trace. It just didn't feel like he was able to add much to the picture so that he could feel proud of his work. While bright colors might be a positive thing for some kids and certainly fun for pages meant to be cut or folded, it just didn't suit us. The page hardly looked any different after my son had used it and he would rather have a blank piece of paper that he can leave a bold mark on. Toward the end of the book there are some pages that have light colored maze trails to follow, which are nice, but for them alone it was not worth the price. After that there are some letter & number tracing pages which will be appropriate when my son is a bit older. One thing we really did enjoy were the lists of fine motor and dry erase activities in the back of the book. All in all, if you feel your child would need bright colors to become interested in tracing, then this book could be for you. If your child likes to see the marks he makes stand out, I recommend using a black and white or pastel colored workbook for tracing.

Great for early writing skills September 25, 2013
    Reviewer: mamaof4
We bought this for our 3 year old son to use. It is great because he is learning early writing skills but is also getting in the habit of sitting for school time. He feels like a big kid doing school like the others. I love how the pages rip out! We have had a similar book made by Kumon but the pages never ripped out so you couldn't "show" daddy without getting out the whole book and it is hard for a youngsters to write or trace and a hump made from the binding of the book.

Good for kids who don't color August 31, 2013
    Reviewer: Snickerslatte
My 3 year old son has never been one to enjoy coloring or drawing unless it's an ink pen on my bed sheets! But he loves using this book with his new pencils. I have him trace the lines with his fingers first and then use the pencil. His hand control is greatly improved. The thick sheets are great for a new pencil user, he hasn't put to many holes in the paper. I could see how a child who is already skilled in coloring in the lines and such might find this boring, but this is working well with our needs.

The first book of the set you should use May 31, 2012
    Reviewer: Erin
Out of the whole set of I Can books, this would be the very first one to use with your child. A kiddo as young as 2 can easily trace the dotted lines. Maybe not perfectly, but he'll have fun trying. It is much easier than several of the other books although I would still recommend buying the entire set of them. I homeschool and can always find a page that relates to what my older children are learning so my little one feels like he is included in "school". How precious! Great quality to the pages, very thick and glossy. Bright colors too! You won't go wrong with ANY of these books!
