Draw and Write Through History Book 1: Creation through Jonah
The 1st book in the Draw and Write through History series covers the time period from Creation through Jonah. Learn to Draw dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, a pyramid, the sphinx, Moses, David, a locust, a giant panda, the Trojan horse and more!

About the Draw and Write Through History Series:
One of the best parts of homeschooling is the freedom we have to hand-pick curriculums for each child. Your little readers may thrive on history texts and historical fiction. Your auditory children will prefer listening to history via CDs. But what do you do with your child who finds reading and listening tiresome? Most of our history programs have activity manuals that address that issue beautifully. But if you are using a different curriculum, or if you can not find enough relevant hands-on projects for your resident artist, consider Draw and Write Through History.

Art, Writing, and History!
Because your child will likely retain more of what he learns when illustrating each time period, Draw and Write Through History is not mere busywork. Not only will your child be taught how to draw true historical figures and places with easy-to-follow, step-by-step, illustrated instructions, but at the end of each section a page of cursive copywork is given, summarizing the history lesson. Intriguing, bite-sized historical facts interspersed on the pages may even jump-start the most reluctant of readers into wanting to learn more.

An Excellent Supplement to any History Curriculum
Each non-consumable Draw and Write Through History book has helpful suggestions on shading and coloring, so it should be an excellent supplement to any history curriculum for years to come. For ages eight and older, but adaptable for younger siblings.

self-directed art July 3, 2014
Reviewer: Rachelle S.
This curriculum is nice in the sense that the child is self-directed in the drawings contained in the book. The author gives detailed step by step directions. The only problem was that my kids seemed disinterested in the drawings they wanted them to do and some were a bit complicated for them (they were 6 & 8 at the time). This might be better for upper elementary.

Great for Adding Interest June 2, 2012
Reviewer: Sara
My third grader loved this book. We pulled it out when the topic overlapped with the history we were studying. He loved drawing on his own with the step by step instructions while I read our textbooks aloud. We used the handwriting passages occasionally to change up the regular routine. They are long passages (a whole page of large cursive; 12-15 lines) so we usually only did a paragraph at a time. We will definitely buy some of the others. A great value!

Perfect combination curriculum! June 1, 2012
Reviewer: Notebooking Mom
Our family loves the entire Draw and Write Through History series. For us, it was the perfect next step after finishing the Draw Write Now series in the elementary years. I loved that it begins chronologically with Creation and precedes through History in order, helping kids gain an understanding of the flow of time. The drawing instructions are easy to follow and help even non-artistically inclined kids gain confidence in their drawing skills. The handwriting practice section (and commentary for each drawing) is done in cursive, but if your kids can read cursive, they don't necessarily have to write their pages in cursive. The way we use this study is with a 3-ring binder and sheet protectors. I print out a drawing page (blank except for a frame boder), and a handwriting page (dotted lines), for each section of the book. This results in a 2-page spread for each period of history in our notebooks. This set can be used as a stand-alone drawing or handwriting curriculum, an overview of history, or as a supplement to your full history curriculum.

Lots of fun! June 1, 2012
Reviewer: Mom to 14
I bought this book when my 11 year old set a New Year's resolution of learning to draw. Since we were starting our Bible study in Genesis at the same time, this book seemed the perfect fit. It has been a lot of fun for my 8-12 year olds, and their drawing skills have been improving, as their interest in drawing has also. This fits in well with a reading of the early Old Testament, and also with Volume 1 of Mystery of History, which we have also been using (and loving).
