Critical And Creative 2
Critical & Creative Thinking Activities: Grade 2, gives students practice looking at ordinary ideas in unexpected ways. Designed for ages 7–8, this 160-page workbook includes 46 themed units that blend imagination, logic, and problem-solving.
Each three-page unit follows a simple format. The first two pages introduce a theme through activities that encourage students to observe, compare, classify, predict, and invent. The final page brings the theme together with a larger challenge, such as a secret code, maze, Venn diagram, riddle, or other problem-solving activity.
The topics are wonderfully varied, moving from rainy days, breakfast, music, and library maps to dinosaurs, penguins, bats, bunnies, the zoo, and familiar stories like Goldilocks and Hansel and Gretel. One lesson might ask students to compare bugs and bats, while another may have them imagine what a bunny is thinking or design a map of a library.
Parent support pages provide simple guidance, and all student pages are reproducible for home use, making it easy to revisit favorite activities or provide additional practice. A complete answer key is also included.
By combining playful themes with real thinking work, this workbook helps second graders strengthen reasoning, classification, comparison, decoding, problem-solving, and flexible thinking skills—one unexpected challenge at a time.
