More than just a strategy game, Wordigo� CD works as a covert exercise for developing spelling proficiency. Capitalizing on the solitary aspect of the Wordigo� board game, this CD version likewise offers four game boards from which to choose, with as few as eight or as many as 17 words on the board and three levels of difficulty - easy, medium, and hard.

Using eight randomly assigned letters, your child will try to find words that fit the crossword paths he is building. But in case he gets stumped and needs a bit of help, there is a hint button that will tell him how many words can be formed with that combination of letters. This is a very helpful feature as occasionally there are no possibilities! In that case, he may request all new letters or select a few that he would like replaced. He can also use the hint feature to place one or more letters for him. Sometimes that is all the help your child will need to figure out a correct word, but if he is truly baffled, then the hint feature will highlight all the necessary letters and allow him to unscramble and place them in the appropriate squares. This feature allows even abysmal spellers an exciting way to develop spelling competency and challenges them to try again and again until they need no hints at all.

For those children that work better under pressure, try using the Timed Mode where they race the clock to complete the puzzle. Personally, that is way too stressful for me, so I am very grateful that this version also comes with the option of turning off the timer. With colorful graphics and optional music, this tremendously adaptable computer game makes Wordigo� CD a family favorite both for spelling drills and for just plain fun.
