How to Use Word Roots Level 3

- As students work through the activities, they'll match definitions, analyze roots and affixes, complete sentences, and apply new vocabulary in writing. Encourage them to look for familiar word parts in literature, science assignments, and other academic reading as the course progresses.
- Don't skip the review sections. They provide valuable reinforcement and help move newly learned roots, prefixes, and suffixes from short-term memory into long-term understanding.
- Use the answer key as a teaching tool rather than simply a grading guide. Discussing why a word means what it does often strengthens understanding more than simply marking an answer right or wrong.

Word Roots is a great way to learn vocabulary and spelling. I appreciate that the material teaches students word prefixes, roots, and suffixes in order to help him decode unknown words. It's not overly difficult for my son, but the repetition and building up of his knowledge of words and their roots certainly adds to his education. Great series!
