Timberdoodle's review   Winter at Valley Forge In the late 1700s, American colonists were unhappy with Great Britain's rule. Britain controlled the colonies' taxes and trade with other countries. Britain also told the colonists where they could and could not settle. Some colonists began to gather weapons for a possible rebellion. Great Britain decided to take the weapons and arrest the rebels. The Battles of Lexington and Concord resulted on April 19, 1775. By December 1777, the troops under General George Washington were tired, cold and dangerously low on supplies.
