3 Year old enjoys it June 7, 2016
Reviewer: Christine Bailey from Pittsfield, ME United States
My daughter loves to do this book. She gets a little tired of counting, but really likes looking for the animals and does a really good job. Pictures are bright and vivid in color, also offers a picture of the animal they are looking for off to the side. I feel that really helps, especially at her age.

My 2 year old has fun with the pictures November 14, 2015
    Reviewer: Jennifer H.
As part of the preschool curriculum, we do this book at least once a week, more if he asks for it. He usually does several pages at a sitting. For his age, some of the pictures can be overwhelming, and some of the things to spot can be very similar, so we made it easier. Instead of asking him to spot 10 clown fish and 8 parrot fish, I just show him the picture of the parrot fish and ask him if he can find any that look "this parrot fish." I don't expect him to find each and every one. If an item is easier to spot, I'll ask him to count how many he sees in the picture, rather than ask him to find a certain number. When he's older well switch it up to finding more specific items. I do wish for the age group and the size of the book it was hard back.

Frustrating for Preschool September 17, 2015
    Reviewer: Mary F.
Unlike the other reviews, I did not find this to be a good fit for my preschooler based on the books layout. One of the first pages has you find 10 cows, 6 calves (who look like smaller versions of the cows) 8 black lambs, and 10 black & white lambs. All 34 of these black and white animals are sharing a small pen in the upper corner of the page, and it is up to you to sort out which are which and (at the same time) try and remember which ones you counted and what is left. We started crossing out what we already counted but quickly realized that the curriculum called for us to do each puzzle more than once, so crossing out was no longer an option. The pictures become more complicated as the book goes on. This has become my least favorite teaching time. (Weekly checklist recommends doing 5 of these puzzles a week!) I sit here wondering how the reviewers with the 2 year olds are surviving! TD Reply: Mary, thank you for taking the time to submit a review! We are so sorry that this book has been frustrating for you and your preschooler. Donâ™t feel too constrained to the curriculum schedule that you canâ™t put this book away for a few weeks or months until it inspires less dread, since every preschooler is different, and is ready for different activities at different stages. As your child grows you can come back to this book and you may both enjoy it much more, as often we have found that books that are frustratingly difficult at first become the perfect fit when the child becomes ready for something more challenging. Also, while mentally keeping track of multiple items at the same time will be difficult for your child at first, donâ™t get discouraged; it is a mental skill worth cultivating, even being taught in brain training programs for adults. Finally, thank you again so much for writing a review, we hope this book exceeds your expectations in the future! â“ The Timberdoodle Team

A favorite with my 3 year old March 28, 2015
    Reviewer: DaNae J.
My 3 year old daughter pulls this book out at least a couple times a week. She hasn't officially started preschool, but she wants to do "school" like her brothers. So she sits down with me to find her animals. We both have fun with this book. The pages are high quality and don't rip easily. Lots of animals in these pages that I didn't even know. We like to research those animals on the computer to find out more information.
