Timberdoodle's review
Our older children did not grow up with a timeline, which is quite unfortunate. Timelines give children a visual, concrete way to view world history. It can be fascinating to step back from studying a particular event in history and see what was happening concurrently in the world.

For instance, about the time that Amos was delivering a message of rebuke from God to the people of Judah, the Olympic games were happening; and Confucius and Buddhism were gathering followers while the Temple was being rebuilt in Jerusalem. While our two world history series, Story of the World and Mystery of History do a great job of presenting complete overviews, if you are looking for a way to track the events, then a timeline is what you need.

History Through the Ages is the most complete timeline collection we have seen to date. With over 1,260 black and white timeline figures on 2 CDs, this is a very affordable way to incorporate a timeline into virtually any curriculum. A brief summary of the person or event, title, date, and description is included and can be printed with each figure, or leave it blank and have your children supply the necessary information. Each detailed illustration has been rendered by homeschooling mom Amy Pak and can be enlarged and colored.

The CDs are organized into categories; Creation to Christ, Resurrection to Revolution (0-1799 AD, World History), Napoleon to Now (1750AD - Present, World History), and America's History (1000 AD - 21 Century). On the CDs are ideas on how to make a variety of timelines, guidelines on how to color the figures, suggestions on what adhesives to use, even game ideas based on the figures. You will have to work hard to run out of ways to use these CDs. If you are teaching history, consider this an indispensable component.
CD 1 includes:
PDF pages of all the figures in our four HISTORY Through the Ages Timeline sets:

For advanced projects, a gallery of GIFS of more than 1,260 timeline images that can be enlarged or reduced, allowing versatile uses such as coloring book pages, notebook timelines, complements to research papers, games, and more! Invaluable History Tool May 31, 2012
Reviewer: Lynn
It's often been said that "a picture is worth a thousand words." This product did just that for our family. It gave us a picture of history as it unfolded through the ages. We could look at our timelines and see history at a glance. Our family has owned this set for quite some time and has used it in several ways. With our older children, we placed the figures in a timeline book that we constructed ourselves out of cardstock paper in a three-ring binder. Recently, we began using them with a younger child and decided to use a wall to construct our timeline. Every time she walks by the wall she "sees" history unfolding. We wouldn't even try to do history without this product. It's invaluable to our family.

one product, many uses October 10, 2011

The artwork on these timeline figures is what drew me to them.  They are beautiful just black and white but even more incredible when a student takes time to color them in.  One daughter is coloring smaller figures to place in her timeline book, while her two younger siblings are coloring larger figures to be used on notebook pages.   The options on the CDs make them very versatile.  You can print off pages chronologically in two different sizes with or without text from one CD.  This CD also allows you to save figures to a Word document, making them the size you want while also picking and choosing only the figures you will use rather than printing off entire pages.   You could even make your own notebook pages.    The second CD allows you to search chronologically, alphabetically, or by several topics listed such as Artists, Composers, Ancient China, or World War I.  We are planning to add important figures to a wall timeline this year to keep HiStory in perspective.

This is awesome.  I use this to test and find out what and who my children know in History.  They cut them out and glue them on their timelines.  Games/classes/timelines etc.  This will be used through all your years of homeschooling.
