Algebra 2 for Independent Learners
Algebra 2 Teaching Textbook is designed specifically for independent learners, with more explanations than many other Algebra 2 programs. The 750-page textbook covers the terms that students need to know for standardized tests. If your child has started, but not completed, an Algebra 1 program, you will find that there is enough review that he can just begin with Algebra 2.

What You Get
This complete set includes CD-ROMs that contains lectures (one for each of the 130 lessons in the textbook) and step-by-step explanations to the five practice problems that begin each problem set, plus solutions to the almost 3,000 homework problems and every test problem! An answer key and a test bank are also included. This is a remarkable method to teach a complex topic. 130 lessons, 11 CDs, over 150 hours instruction.

About Teaching Textbooks

Designed for Homeschoolers
A number of years ago we did the unthinkable and took a poke at a sacred cow when we said that we didn't like the conventional big-name home school math programs. Though some families were steadfast in their defense, there has since been an increasing number of families who have come to realize that math programs originally designed to be used in government schools are wholly inadequate to meet the needs of home educators.

You Don't Have to be a Math Teacher!
What is wrong with adapting a school-based text for home use? There are a couple of significant issues with doing that. First, because a typical school text assumes a knowledgeable math teacher, the explanations are often meager and brief. If you double as a math teacher, this will present no problem to you. However, many parents either did not take upper level math as a teen, or if they did, the process is just a distant, unpleasant memory. So sparse explanations in typical texts can be frustrating to both child and parent. Second, government schools' math texts often contain excessive use of terminology, making simple ideas seem complex.

Combines a Teacher and a Textbook into One!
However, the Teaching Textbooks series is written with home educators in mind so it tackles those issues head-on in a rather innovative way, by combining a teacher and a textbook into one. Firstly, their textbooks, since they were designed specifically for independent learners, contain far more explanation than any others on the market, and the tone is friendly and conversational. Because the Teaching Textbooks series was designed for homeschoolers studying independently, it uses far less irrelevant jargon than other textbooks, while still retaining all the terms that students need to know for those important standardized tests. The textbook also comes with an answer key and a test bank.

Step-By-Step Multimedia Explanations
Secondly, and ultimately what sold me on this program, are their computer CDs with down-to-earth, step-by-step multimedia solutions for every problem in the book, plus an additional CD-ROM with complete step-by-step solutions for every test problem. The lectures - one for each lesson in the textbook - provide hours of instruction. They cover the same material as the written lessons in the textbook, but many students prefer to listen to (and watch) an explanation for each lesson rather than read it out of a book. (Note that you'll still need the textbook, because it has all the homework assignments and the answer key). This is a brilliant idea, long overdue and skillfully done, with many hours of instruction.

Review Method
The Teaching Textbooks series has been field-tested with outstanding results. Like other quality math programs, Teaching Textbooks uses the review method because it is a proven method for insuring children are able to master difficult subjects such as algebra and geometry. Students using Teaching Textbooks are fully prepared for College Board examinations and college courses. Enjoyable, efficient, and effective, what more could you want from a math program?

    A "Godsend" October 31, 2008
    Reviewer: Theresa S.
I have recommended the Teaching Textbooks math program to many of the ladies in my homeschool group. Those who have switched agree that it is a "Godsend."

Confession of a (previous) math moron October 30, 2008
Reviewer: Diana T. from Decatur, IL
As a math moron I had hit the wall by the time we were half-way through Saxon Algebra 1. We backed up 1/2 year and purchased the D.I.V.E. program which helped our eldest to finish the Saxon textbook. Desperate not to repeat my failure with our next child we tried Teaching Textbooks. Contrary to our previous experience, both of our younger children found it to be an almost enjoyable class. Not to mention that I found myself much more interested in Algebra and plan to continue in this series.

EVERYTHING is explained! October 24, 2008
Reviewer: Connie M. from Everett, WA
After using Saxon and ABeka math for years, our children have really enjoyed the switch to Teaching Textbooks.  EVERYTHING is explained! Teacher preparation time is a minimum.  This curriculum has interesting facts about the history of mathematics woven into the lessons; witty tutorial computer CD's that visibly teach and are searchable by problem; and student-friendly grading keys. It is the perfect 4th-12th mathematics curriculum!!

Helpful to my whole family October 20, 2008
Reviewer: Susan D. from Milwaukie OR
This product is easy to use and does a great job in explaining the lesson to the student.  The student can work independently.  That is helpful to my whole family. I will definitely purchase more for my other children.  My only suggestion would be to ofter more of the same product for younger children!

Scholarship worthy scores on the ACT/SAT October 20, 2008
Reviewer: Mary Jean P. from Peachtree City, GA
I had tried several math programs for my reluctant high school math student.  She loved this one, it made sense and she understood it.  She scored well enough on her ACT/SAT to receive a scholarship to College, where she is now and doing very well.
