2026 Fifth-Grade Curriculum Kit
Stopmotion Explosion 2.0
Making a stop-motion movie involves far more than moving a character one frame at a time. The Stopmotion Explosion Kit 2.0 introduces your child to the entire filmmaking process—from planning and production to editing and sound design.
At the heart of the kit is a 290-page illustrated guide that walks students through writing scripts, creating storyboards, building scenes, animating characters, recording sound, and editing finished films. Step-by-step instructions and hundreds of illustrations make the process approachable, even for beginners.
The kit includes a 1080p HD camera with manual focus, 360-degree rotation, and a built-in microphone. Combined with the included stop-motion software, students can capture frames, preview movement using onion-skinning tools, add voices and sound effects, and refine their projects from start to finish.
As students create their own films, they'll naturally develop skills in storytelling, planning, visual communication, problem-solving, and technology. Historical events, literature projects, science demonstrations, and original stories all become potential subjects for animation.
The included software, sound effects, templates, and resources are provided both on CD and as downloadable files for Mac and Windows, making it easy to get started.
Whether your child wants to create clay animations, historical reenactments, science demonstrations, or original adventures, Stopmotion Explosion Kit 2.0 provides the tools and instruction to bring those ideas to life—one frame at a time.
How to Use Stopmotion Explosion Kit 2.0
- Begin by exploring the introductory chapters together. Your child doesn't need to master the entire book before getting started. Reading a few chapters and creating a simple first project is often the best way to learn.
- Plan on spending the first few weeks becoming familiar with the basics of storyboarding, animation, camera setup, and sound. As confidence grows, encourage your child to tackle more advanced techniques and longer projects.
- A good pace is to complete one film each month. Some projects may be short, one-minute animations, while others may grow into more ambitious productions with multiple scenes, sound effects, and editing.
- Encourage variety throughout the year. Your child might create historical reenactments, science demonstrations, book trailers, product reviews, news broadcasts, public service announcements, or original stories. The more varied the projects, the more opportunities he'll have to develop storytelling and technical skills.
- Set aside regular time each week for filming and editing. Even one hour a week can produce impressive results when projects are completed consistently.
- Most importantly, make time to watch the finished films together. Sharing completed projects gives your child a real audience and provides a natural opportunity to celebrate growth in creativity, communication, and technical skill.
Whether producing a simple clay animation or a fully narrated short film, your child will gain valuable experience planning, creating, revising, and presenting original work.

Want to know more? There are a few reasons why product packaging is sometimes flimsy.
- Cost savings. Using less material in packaging can save companies money, which means you save money.
- Sustainability. Some companies are using less packaging to be more sustainable. This is especially true for products shipped long distances, as less packaging means less weight and less fuel to transport the products.
- Ease of shipping. Lightweight (dust cover) packaging can make it easier to ship products, as it takes up less space.
- Marketing. Some companies use dust cover packaging as a billboard to market their products. This brightly colored packaging is designed to catch consumers' attention in a retail store.

Neat way to be creative
Bina
My daughter loved this so much and enjoyed the movie she made. She drew out her storyboard first and that helped to plan what she wanted to film. It’s easy to use. We had her read a chapter a week and then start on actually making a film.

Fun Program

My daughter LOVES LEGO and she loves to create stories with them. This was a great way to explore her creativity in a new way and bring old sets back to life. It's also a lesson in patience and the end result paying off and problem solving.

Great way to get kid’s imagination going and making their own short-films and stories. My child really enjoyed making different sound effects. It was rewarding to see my 5th grader make short film with legos . We havent spend a lot of time using to give 5 star review. Hoping this summer will do that!

Software was glitchy after a while
Aaron K.
We purchased this several years ago and after mild success the software became glitchy. The book had some good tips in it. My kids ended up using Stikbot and having more success with that.

SO fun!
Jackie A.
Both my 3rd and 5th grader LOVE this. It's so fun and keeps them busy for hours. They come up with storyboards, themes, characters, voice overs, and then put it altogether. This is a creative thinkers' best tool! I love the it's a different form of art for them.
