A Delicate Tightrope
It is a delicate tightrope we walk. I'm all in favor of ditching the use of disposable water bottles, but staying hydrated is important to me too. Carrying around 10 pounds of water in clinking metal bottles is more work than I care for. But swine flu and other infectious diseases have made the prospect of sucking water out of a public fountain a bit unsavory.
A Delightful Discovery
While planning our 2010 core curriculums for babies and toddlers, we discovered the delightful Squishy Bowls and a light went on. Featherweight Squishy Bowls could be used as portable cups, making water faucets safe again.
Squish to Fit Almost Anywhere
Composed of food grade silicone, Squishy Bowls are so collapsible that they fit into a diaper bag, lunch box, backpacks, and even briefcases and laptop bags. Cram them into tight corners and they pop into shape every time you need them. When you want to, you can drain the rest of your beverage or soup by squishing the sides of the bowl into a convenient spout.
Cooking, Freezing, Keeping Warm, Keeping In
The smaller Squishy Bowl cup is perfect for toddler-sized sips or snacks; the larger one holds a hearty 16 ounces. The taste-free silicone is resistant to 400 degrees F, so Squishy Bowls can be used to bake, boil or freeze food or drinks (though you obviously wouldn't want to put it over an open flame). Ice cream stays colder longer and chili retains its heat better due to the taller sides of the Squishy Bowls. And the tapered rim keeps food in, an asset for toddlers who tend to wander with their food.
Not Just for Children
Nearly indestructible, Squishy Bowls are smooth inside, making cleanup a snap, and the outside is textured so it is easy to grip and won't slip. While wonderful for children, Squishy Bowls are equally practical for outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate compactness and minimal weight, and are a good idea for any car emergency kit. Firefighters find them ideal to stuff into their wild-land packs because they don't break and are amazingly tough.
