Through her two-video/ DVD course, Jennifer Lamp, with her sweet, gentle manner, does an outstanding job of making even the most incompetent want to try. And, although you know she cannot see you, you cannot help but beam whenever she praises your accomplishments. The complete course teaches over 500 signs through the use of DVD and a standard workbook with lessons, helpful hints, and important principles. Each lesson is designed around a character quality, and you are challenged to evaluate your life in light of the lesson's character quality. There are three layers to each lesson. My favorite is the first layer, Little Ones. This is where everyone, but especially tiny  children, learns a few words and then a simple song. These uncomplicated songs really help me to remember the words. The next layer is for slightly older children who will learn a few more words and a verse. The final layer is for the serious student who will learn even more words and some sign language principles. If your family desires to learn sign language, and your heart warms to any subject matter that is drenched in Biblical truths, you will be as enthusiastic about Signs for His Glory as we are. Each course includes one DVD as well as one standard workbook. Additional supplies are available online. PSE (pidgin sign language), uses signs from both ASL and SEE (Signed Exact English), with many ASL principles. Our family loves it! November 5, 2008 Reviewer: Luann P. from Kingston, MN   We have loved Signs for His Glory 1 and have purchased Sign for His Glory 2.  We all sit together to do the lesson(Mom and 9 children ages 2-20). We like the instructor- Jennifer's passion for sign, also how every lesson has a character trait to work on and a Godly emphasis.  For the older kids she has a character worksheet to evaluate and put into practice the character quality she is teaching for that lesson. We highly recommend Signs for His Glory for... November 5, 2008 Reviewer: Jill M. from Lincroft, NJ   When our pre-teen daughter expressed an interest in learning sign language we were thrilled to read the Timberdoodle description of Signs for His Glory.  Of special interest to us was its multi-level applications, and its Christian orientation - with the added bonus of a devotional-type accompanying workbook leading the child through a study on various character qualities related to the signing lessons.  We were not disappointed in the general sense.  Jennifer Lamp possessed just the right qualities of subject mastery, teaching skills, enthusiasm and gentleness to engage and affirm our sensitive and eager young learner.  We all - parents and younger sibling alike - found ourselves joining in with our student to learn the songs, and taught them to others in our community and church.   We highly recommend Signs for His Glory for beginning signers (and their families) ranging in age from "preschoolers" through early teens, but with the following qualification: If you desire a program that is technically smooth and professional, you might be put off by some of the camera work, various minor mishaps, and generally amateurish production.  In spite of our own high standards re. production quality, we nevertheless were so charmed by Miss Lamp's manner and spirit that we were able to overlook (and found amusement in) such things.
