Timberdoodle's review
Show Me How to Survive
We want kids to read, so we move mountains (of books) looking for any title that will cause a reluctant reader to crack open a book. Show Me How to Survive is one such title. Not necessarily because your child will need to know how to disarm a shooter, survive a shipwreck, or rescue-breathe for a dog, but because its hundreds of illustrations and sparse text is an irresistible mix for readers and non-readers alike. Colorful, insightful, and maybe just a bit quirky, this visual guide demystifies 175 events, everything from the essential to the unusual, each explained in nearly wordless, step-by-step illustrations. As the author states, ...this book is not intended to replace professional advice or training," but as a bold new visual guidebook, Show Me How to Survive is one of the best and will be useful for reading, story-telling, and even pretend play.

Note: Show Me How to Survive is a secular title, so you will want to hit it with a touch of white-out before you hand it off to your child, particularly a few of the items suggested for the emergency preparedness kit on page 5.

Show Me How to Survive January 20, 2017
Reviewer: Ethan, who loves to cook, age 11
This is a fun book. I took it to camp and everyone crowded around me wanting to see what it was about. I like the page where it shows which wilderness plants you can eat. It also shows how to exit different holds for self defense, how to tie knots, and how to make a tent out of sticks and leaves. I highly recommend it, it's my favourite book to read.

Fun Way To Learn Safety January 19, 2016
Reviewer: Mandy H.
My children (3rd, 5th, & 7th grades) love this book and the fun way that it presents learning all about safety. They enjoy reading one or two...or more!...sections at a time and practicing what they can from that lesson. The format is easy to use and the kids WANT to sit down and read this book! It is so practical and the pictures are very helpful and simple to understand.

Such A Fun Book September 25, 2015
Reviewer: Deja
Not only is this book fun and interesting, but it can be used in so many other ways than just your reading lessons. We use it for creative writing: Write a story about how you ended up living in a school bus buried underground. We use it for critical thinking: What other things can you think of to do when stranded in a desert?and so much more. We love this book and highly recommended it.

I know this is recommended February 22, 2015

I know this is recommended for an older age group but my 4 and 5 year olds do great with some of the more basic lessons. This is one of those books you can re teach each year.
