best reading program
March 9, 2009
Reviewer: Amy Parker from Cataula, GA United States
I have used this book with two children so far and it's been amazing how well it works! They are very different in their learning styles, but this book has been the one I used to teach them both to read. After completion of the 100 lessons, they were both excited about reading and confident.

My son wouldn't be reading now without this book
February 20, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous person from Windsor, PA United States
My son had a very difficult time learning to read. We tried everything and nothing worked. Thinking we were going to have to hire a professional or send him to school we bought this book as our last effort and to my surprise it worked. He picked up on the lessons and loved the short stories. I handmade flashcards to go with the book and made small storybooks as well so he felt he was reading "real" books. It took him two years (first & second grade) to finish the book. He is now in the fourth grade and reading at a seventh grade reading level! This book saved our homeschool.

My kids & tutored students all learned so much!
February 19, 2009
Reviewer: Stephanie Orsini from FL United States
I've been a homeschooler for 10 years and I also worked as a tutor. My children developed their early reading skills with this simple book and my tutoring "victims" as I called them also improved. (The trick is to read the directions well and follow them!)

I have purchased at least 10-12 for others!!
November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Verena S. from Mississippi
My child has a diagnosis of severe ADHD and learning to read was a breeze using "TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ IN 100 EASY LESSONS." His learning disorder was difficult to diagnose because of his reading skills. I loved the book so much that I have purchased at least 10-12 for struggling parents and friends. They too were satisfied. I thank God for your web site!

I am so happy with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. Not only does it teach your child to read quickly. But they learn to "LOVE TO READ" This is the best by far. I wish I would of known about it for my two older kids.

Best learning-to-read program I've ever seen!!
November 4, 2008
Reviewer: Kay W. from Ukiah, CA
This is the best learning-to-read program I've ever seen -- and I've seen lots because I used to work with learning disabled children. As long as a parent reads and follows the instructions carefully, this is a virtually "fail-proof" program. And by the way, a friend of mine who worked in a private special education school told me this was the book her school used to teach their students to read. Their students included children a wide range of problems including autism, severe learning disabilities, severe behavior problems, and mental retardation.

Terrific!
November 4, 2008
Reviewer: Mary Z. from New Baltimore, NY
I've used "100 Easy Lessons", as we've called this book, with our six oldest children and think it is wonderful. Timberdoodle's review describes this product very well but our experience has been that almost every lesson takes almost an hour and some days we would disagree with the claim that the work is easy. This program is still terrific, however, as it covers reading skills that your child will use without bogging your child down with memorizing multiple phonics rules. I recommend beginning this program with your four or five year old and resisting the urge to add other reading programs until you have both completed the book to avoid unnecessary confusion. By the way, the price is amazing for the value. We are very happy readers here and this program-in-a-book helped get our children's homeschooling off to a good start.

Intend to use it with grandchildren!!
November 4, 2008
Reviewer: Cindy R. from Poland, OH
Sadly, I discovered this curriculum with my fourth child, after using another, more difficult (and more expensive) reading curriculum for my first three. By the end of the school year, he was reading better than his brother, who is 2 years older than him. He found later stories in the book a little dry and uninteresting, but that was the only complaint that we had. I have recommended this program to friends, and intend to use it with grandchildren, as I'm in the last few years of homeschooling high school with my own children.

My 4 kids were pleased to be reading so quickly
November 3, 2008
Reviewer: Sarah C. from Fort Worth, Texas
This book has been wonderful to use in place of tedious phonics programs we've tried and it also addresses common sight words so I didn't have to resort to flash cards. Some of the stories are silly but you can take what they're doing and write your own "lessons" using the words they're emphasizing. I've used it with 4 kids and they were so pleased to be reading so quickly, even if just recognizing words on menus or signs.

Two oldest were both reading by the age of 5
November 3, 2008
Reviewer: Janine C. from Penacook, NH
I am presently using this text with my third child (4 years old), having already used it sucessfully with my older 2 children. My 1st and 2nd child have radically different learning styles, but I was able to use this book with both of them, and they were both reading by the age of 5. I confess that I have yet to finish this book with any of my kids, as the older 2 reached a point at which their reading skills surpassed the level of the lessons, prior to reaching the end of the text. I would suggest using supplementary reading materials once the first few sounds are learned, like the Bob Books (a personal favorite). This helped to keep the interest of my oldest, who was more interested in the stories than he was in the repetitious practicing of sounds. Overall, a very simple, easy to use, and versatile text. I'm very glad I gave it a try.
