The kids compete with each other
September 25, 2009
Reviewer: Tracy O. from Saint Joseph, MN
Our family is enjoying this typing program. The kids enjoy competing with their beginning skills per minute with one another.

Unlike other programs, Typing Instructor works!
September 25, 2009
Reviewer: Kim F. from Old Hickory, TN
I have tried other typing programs for my children in the past without much success. After reading other reviews, I decided to give Typing Instructor a try. I have been very impressed. Each of my children can work at their own pace and level. Their progress can be seen immediately at the end of each lesson. This is such an encouragement to them. My son's typing skills have improved to the point of him being able to type all his book reports and essays. Thanks for a great program!

My 12yo daughter has been using this program.
September 25, 2009
Reviewer: Marti W. from Elma, WA
Her spelling has improved and she absolutely loves the games. It keeps her attention and she has never gotten bored and "not" wanted to do her typing. We are really glad that we bought this program.

I have been using Typing Tutor for MANY years....
September 25, 2009
Reviewer: Cathy S. from Montpelier, ND
I can't remember when I purchased my first copy, but my 7 oldest children [oldest is 27 down to our 14 year old] have or are learning to type on it. I have 4 more that will use it, as well. Personally, I have taken time to do some of the advanced lessons to learn my numbers and other keys, that I never knew. It helped me, tremendously. My husband missed typing class in high school due to switching schools. I hope someday he will take the time to use it too. It is a resource that will remain a valuable tool for our family for many years.

Excellent Choice!
July 6, 2009
Reviewer: Larry & Stacy Fausett from Lamar, MO United States
I bought this some time ago for our children and had to invest in a newer one as computers updated. It has been the easiest, most efficient way to teach typing and cost effective to boot. Our eldest is graduating and we have five more to teach. It is a great program that is fun and inexpensive. It allows them to keep working on areas of weakness, and keeps records of work done. It is even fun for Grandma. We couldn't get her to quit playing "Shark Attack". The games make practice fun. So different from the boring way I learned in public school. WE LOVE IT!

Typing Instructor Deluxe 17 is Wonderful!
March 14, 2009
Reviewer: AM from Big Pine, CA United States
After reading a number of reviews on several sites, I decided to purchase Typing Instructor Deluxe 17. I am so pleased that I did. Our children truly enjoy this program.
It is always beneficial when children learn in a way that sparks interest and joy. Typing Instructor Deluxe has designed a program that provides just the kind of instruction that motivates children to excel in building their typing skills.
The instructions are very simple, and the program is easy to navigate. The images/colors on your monitor are not distracting to the point where it hinders concentration for the average child.
Typing Instructor Deluxe will help beginners as well as experienced individuals develop typing skills.
I received the software 4 days after placing the order. We had no problems downloading, and running the program on our XP Pro.
Thanks to everyone at Timberdoodle.

My computer had problems running this program
November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Kathleen J. from Bradenton, FL
Though this product did teach my child to type, I did not like it because of 2 things.
1)Unless your are using an old operating system (pre-XP), don't buy this program as the games will not work, stop working part way through, or it will lock up the computer, etc.
2)It wasn't easy to make changes to the program such as change the background music (it wouldn\'t remember your selection), speed preference, theme, etc. If you made any changes you'd lose whatever work you'd done before. Very frustrating!!!

My whole family loves it!!
November 5, 2008

Our whole family loves Typing Instructor! I purchased it for our younger children, but our college-age boys spent their Christmas break competing for most 'words per minute'! Even my husband and I have improved our typing skills.

Fantastic!
November 4, 2008
Reviewer: Allison H. from Tucson, AZ
This CD-ROM is fantastic! My daughter learned to type in less than 3 months, and had fun doing it! The actual lessons were a tad bit dull, but WAY more interesting than the way I learned to type in high school. First, you learn 3 or 4 new keys, then you practice using them by typing a page or two of words with these letters in them. You then have the opportunity to choose interesting articles to practice typing. And the games. Oh my. Even I had a blast with the games, competing with my kids for fastest typist. (I won.) They are so much fun! You have to "shoot" sharks down by typing words really fast before they pass by in front of you, all toothy and glide-y. You race bikes. You see who can rock-climb the fastest. And there are cowboys that shoot things if you don't type fast enough. Yep. Cowboys. Man, why couldn't I have learned this way back in school?! I had to sit through typing class, practicing with sentences about foxes and spaghetti and chubby pizza delivery guys, while stopping periodically to cover my mouth when yawning. Really messed up my typing speeds, let me tell ya!
