We use this balance at least once a week. It really reinforces concepts for my children. For our family a number balance and an abacus is a must for math time.

I bought a math balance eight to ten years ago and use it almost daily with my elementary aged children. I keep the balance beside a box of Cuisenaire rods and have the children "prove" their answers with more than one manipulative. Rods are definitely better for subtraction, so if I had to choose one, I would use rods. (I'm very glad I can have both!!)

My kids enjoyed playing with this balance. It helped reinforce in a fun way their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. I also used it to introduce solving algebra equations. If you have visual and kinesthetic learners, this balance is a neat math tool!

The number balance is a great tool for reinforcing the basic arithmetic operations and math facts. It's wonderful for kids who are visual and kinesthetic learners. My kids enjoyed using it to help them with their math work.
