Principles, Theories, and Precepts of Biology

In Principles, Theories, and Precepts of Biology, the publisher takes a refreshingly bold approach by challenging popular theories using the scientific method, application of DNA, and recent research to point out strengths and weaknesses of theories. Students who complete this course will have a strong foundation for college studies in science and theories about the origin of life.

One High-School Credit
Principles, Theories, and Precepts of Biology is intended to satisfy most state requirements for one high-school biology transcript credit. Students who complete this course will have a strong foundation for college studies in science and theories about the origin of life. The publisher takes a refreshingly bold approach by challenging popular theories using the scientific method, application of DNA, and recent research to point out strengths and weaknesses of theories.

Ideal for Homeschoolers
Similar in format to Integrated Physics & Chemistry, this college preparatory course consists of six 8 1/2" by 11" soft-cover textbooks and six companion student activity books, the very design of the texts and activity books enables a home-taught student to absorb the material without the need of any supplemental materials or labs. Included is an access code to download the teacherís resource kit with all the answers, quizzes, and tests. Lab experiences are not necessary to fulfill the requirements of this course, making this an ideal program for most home-taught students.

Exciting New Addition
We are very excited about the addition of QR-Code YouTube videos in The Principles, Theories, and Precepts of Biology. Students simply use their smartphones to activate videos that enhance understanding of printed pages. This digitally-enhanced curriculum engages students while satisfying many state requirements for students to experience laboratory studies for transcript credit.

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2016 Ninth-Grade Curriculum Kit!

Seems to be a solid program October 22, 2015
    Reviewer: Jim E.
My daughter and I are just getting into this kit, but I am impressed so far. They jump into some complicated material rather quickly, but do a good job explaining it and helping make it accessible to students. I think it would be rather difficult for parents who don't have some of this material in their own educational background, but I am remembering just enough from high school to get me through.

This is very comprehensive. The kit includes all you will need for the entire year. It is a biblical approach and is about at a college prep level. If students are able to grade 85% on each of 3 quizes they do not need to test.

Good information, weird format October 3, 2011
Reviewer: Virginia Morgan from Greenville, IL United States
Ok, so our kids have very little interest in science. But we have to cover biology for high school...so we ordered this set of books. I like the way the information is presented in a relevant way. Who knew biology could fit into everyday life?

The format is a little strange, and things are labeled in a weird way: Each of 6 books is a "chapter," and each chapter has 3 "sections," each of which contains 5 lessons. Sometimes we get confused about what is next, and what quiz or test goes next. The comments to the student are a little weird. We like the life principles, but it might be overkill to make kids memorize them all.

Overall, I don't know of an option that would suit us better.

We are excited to have another option August 27, 2010
Reviewer: Laureen from N. Huntingdon, PA
We recently wrote to ask some questions about this product and were very pleased at the quick response. So thankful we have an option other than the 'usual' homeschool program out there, which worked for some of our children, but not all. This program is not so in depth, great for the child who struggles with too much information when related to a subject that just doesn't interest them. We are excited to have another option to help us get the material we need covered without overkill for a student who just doesn't have an interest in science.
