Are you looking for a complete homeschool curriculum
for your preschooler
? You'll find that Timberdoodle's Curriculum engages the hands-on learner
, reaches for academic excellence
, and encourages a growing love for learning
. We also stress critical thinking skills and, even at this early grade, working towards independent learning. This program is designed for the two- or three-year-old who is ready for a more intentional approach to learning with an emphasis on activities and conversations rather than worksheets alone. Of course, most preschoolers are eager to have their own workbooks, too, so we've included the very best ones available to be sure you both enjoy this year!
Depending on your child's pace, you will find that this includes enough material for a relaxed two years of learning or a fast-paced one-year approach. Our suggestion? Just jump in and see how your child does. Many preschoolers will be eager to speed ahead, but if you find that your child really isn't there yet, simply slow down and enjoy this all-too-fleeting stage.

Timberdoodle's Preschool Handbook
This guide helps you to know which books to use when and how to schedule your school year. A weekly checklist is included so that you can verify at a glance that you are including a wide variety of activities in your tiny tot's routine. We don't encourage a detailed daily schedule since no two days are identical for a wee one; at this age especially, a relaxed approach is so much more appropriate!

Montessori Letter Work
In the innovative, interactive board book, Letter Work, your toddler will learn the sounds and shapes of each letter. Based on the century-old and highly successful Montessori way of teaching, chubby fingers will find these letters, with uber-fine sandpaper texture, irresistible for tracing. Visually appealing and educational in every way, each Letter Work page features basic phonetic sounds; touchable, traceable letters; and an elegantly simple illustration to provide context.
Montessori Number Work
Following the Montessori method, the interactive Montessori Number Work introduces quantities to count before teaching the numerals. Groupings of beautiful, slightly retro illustrations provide objects to count before your toddler turns the page to find the correct fine sandpaper numeral to trace with his fingers. This approach of focusing on the concrete before the abstract has been highly successful for over a century.
Montessori Map Work
The newest board book in the Montessori series, Montessori Map Work introduces preschoolers to the basics about the seven continents. Visually appealing, Montessori Map Work devotes two pages to each continent and includes some of the animals and/or birds native to that continent. There is also a textured outline of each continent for small hands to trace and suggested modes of transportation between continents for spatial context. The back cover folds out to show a simple map of the world and provide a satisfying preschool-size overview of geography.
A-Z Upper and Lower Case Puzzles
As children manipulate the three-dimensional, bright, crepe foam rubber letters in the Lauri Alphabet Puzzles, they increase visual and tactile perception, shape discrimination, and hand-eye coordination. For the youngest, think of these as fabulous perception puzzles (just think of how similar E & F, O & Q, R & P, and M & N are). At two, most toddlers are able to pick out each letter by name. Older children can match lower case and upper case, put together words, and use the puzzles for phonics games.
Big Book of Things to Spot
Usborne's Big Book of Things to Spot contains four titles in one volume, making it the book to take along on a trip when you know there will be waits or delays. This book is crammed with over 4000 things to spot on a farm, in the town, or pertaining to animals or history. While searching the colorful, beautifully illustrated pages, your preschooler will learn the names of both animals and objects. You will also discuss numbers, counting, colors, shapes, and differences. Just doing a page or two a day will enrich your child's vocabulary in a way that you both will find enjoyable.
Mathematical Reasoning - Beginning 1
Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 1 is a highlight for this age. The activities are simple, engaging, and colorful. Whether it is pointing to the group of four yellow horses or crossing off the fish eaten by the cat, this book is a perfect introduction to the basics of math. At this age, math is an interesting puzzle to be solved, and Mathematical Reasoning will not let it become tedious to your child.

In Kumon's Let's Cut Paper series, your child will learn how to hold and control scissors, proceeding from the simple one-stroke cuts of a dog's whiskers to the more complicated zig-zag lines of a king's crown. Pages are sturdy enough to manage, but not so thick as to be difficult to cut.
Imported from Sweden, Bubber is an excellent source of tactile stimulation, improving gross- and fine-motor skills in a satisfyingly gentle way. Startlingly light, it leaves clean, sharp edges when cut and precise impressions when imprinted. Children enjoy working with Bubber because it is not sticky or gritty; it actually feels warm in their hands. And because it is so very soft, even the tiniest or weakest hands can shape this compound. Bubber is messy, so indulge when housework can take a backseat to creativity. But it never leaves a residue, never dries out, and cleans up quickly and easily--you can even use your vacuum!
