Timberdoodle's review
Poke-A-Dot! Old MacDonald's Farm
We have been searching for a fun way to teach a visiting three-year-old that counting is not a silly chant but that it has meaning. Poke-A-Dot! Old MacDonald's Farm is what we've been looking for. This one-of-a-kind popping dots book lets kids track how many animals are on each page--every time they touch an animal, the bubble pops.

Fun Way to Teach Counting from One to Ten
This chunky board book is thicker than most, perfect for smaller fingers, and the buttons can be popped repeatedly. In fact, the poking of the dots is very addictive for most children, which is nice for a child who needs to work on fine motor skills. Poke-A-Dot! Old MacDonald's Farm is a fun, fresh, 'pop-a-tronic' way to teach your preschooler how to count from one to ten!

Son's Favorite June 10, 2016
Reviewer: Rebecca Holmes from Covina, CA United States
I gave this book to my 12 month old son and it was an instant hit.  It is his favorite book and we keep it on the shelf to protect it from him.  We get it down and read it twice a day, and he is so excited when we do.  He can easily push down the "dots" on both the left and right sides.  We sometimes have to point to the dots he missed so he can push those down too.  We count each "dot" as he pushes it down and therefore he is hearing the correct way to count over and over again.  My son is almost 14 months old now and he still fully loves this book.  I cannot thank Timberdoodle enough for finding such a wonderful book!

Better than I expected! December 16, 2014
Reviewer: Catherine E.
I was surprised, I didn't think I would like this as much, but it's great! My 16 month old loves the clicky popping sound the "dots" make. As a mom, I like that the dots don't take much to "pop." Nothing more frustrating than having a fun toy that your child isn't strong enough to make work! Bright and colorful pictures.

Great Fun!! December 4, 2014
Reviewer: Linda F.
Love it! It is so much fun! The popping sound is very distinct. I bought it for a toddler and am sure he'll love it. Showed it to a 7 year old and he thought it was cool also. He can count, but thought the popping sound was pretty neat. In fact, I ordered 6 more so I can have some for my house and to give as gifts. Thanks for the fun! As always, Timberdoodle delivers again!

Great for trips! March 24, 2014
Reviewer: Snickerslatte
I bought this for a long trip we were taking with my 4 and 2 year old. I really bought it for the 2 year old, but the 4 year old loves it as well. Got lots of use on the plane ride and waiting at restaurants. After seeing the kids play with the book while eating out, our friends went home and ordered one for their daughter that very night! The poking is fun, and the pictures are really nice as well. My 2 year old will poke all the dots and then point out all the animals on the pages. Not a great book for church due to the popping sound, but great for almost anything else when you need to bring some entertainment along!

Enjoyable Book for my 16 Month Old January 12, 2014
Reviewer: Sarah R.
My 16 month old daughter is really enjoying the Poke-A-Dot Old MacDonald's Farm. The book counts down from 10 animals on the first spread of pages to 1 animal on the last spread of pages. The pictures are fun. We never get a chance to read/sing the Old MacDonald Farm story because the focus is always on the dot popping. I like to count out loud as she pokes the dots instead of trying to read/sing, and there is no time to read afterwards because as soon as she is done poking the dots on one page, she is ready to turn to the next! Instead I just say what animal we just counted and the sound it makes before turning the page. That said, the poke-a-dots are what make the book! The "dots" are easy enough for my daughter's small fingers to "poke". I noticed the dots on the left side of each of the pages are much easier to push and make a louder, more fun sounding pop. The dots on the right side of the page are a little harder to push (but not too hard) and make a more dull sounding pop. That doesn't seem to bother my daughter at all though. We actually had an issue with the first book we received - 4 of the dots would not pop. Timberdoodle said they had not heard many similar complaints on this, so hopefully it was just an unusual occurrence. They pulled another book off the shelf, checked all the dots while I was on the phone with them, and sent it as a replacement at no cost. Overall, I would recommend this book to others for toddlers/preschoolers. It is a fun book to do with your child and for them to occupy themselves with while learning to count and learn animal names and sounds. For the amount of time we have already spent with this book, I think it was worth the price.
