Piano for Quitters is not just a program for quitters. Piano for Quitters includes a historical narrative/slide presentation about why piano lessons have changed so much over the course of a century, as well as chord progressions not covered in Piano for Life. Piano for Quitters is suitable as an introduction for younger children, and can serve as a foundation for Piano for Life.

This DVD does come with a small fold-out pamphlet (about 3.5" x 6" when closed, with 6 panels and a registration card) that lists all the chords, etc from each lesson for the student to practice.
Features
Piano lessons based on clear explanations without technical terms!

Review by Joy-Filled Days Blog December 22, 2011

We give it a C.

I was excited to review this, because I was  a piano drop out. We have raised a fairly musical family. Our kids have had the opportunity to take lessons at a local music conservatory, they play regularly in church, town events and have made Massachusetts District and All State Orchestras. (Emily is practicing her violin for Mass. District Orchestra auditions as I type this.) But I am not personally proficient in any instrument.  I took 6 years of piano lessons and then just quit. Although I do play today for fun and enjoyment, I thought that this may give me a deeper understanding of what was lacking. I did come away from this series knowing a few tricks for playing using chord progressions, but that was about it. In my opinion, it is for the person who just wants to fool around and make beautiful music in their homes, but not for the person who wants to accompany or read music to perform.  So, I could take or leave this video. I am giving it a “C.”

Good Product January 5, 2011

I purchased Piano for Life and was disappointed to learn that beginning skills were needed in order to use the DVD (that were not taught in the DVD).  Then I found that Piano for Quitters was recommended as a prerequisite to Piano for Life.  Although I really do not prefer the name of the DVD, I love the method of instruction and decided to give it a try.  My nine year old son has learned a lot.  It inspires my eight year old son and six year old daughter to play the piano, but so far I haven't seen them learn as much from watching the DVD.  Hopefully my younger children will "grow" into it, in the future.  For now, they love to play the piano which is my ultimate goal for them anyway.  Hopefully they will learn more as they mature.
