Perilous Expedition to the Pacific

This book presents the amazing story of a young Native American girl's journey with Lewis and Clark.

In 1804, the most famous expedition in our country's history began. Sacagawea, a young Shoshone woman, took her place in a canoe each day with her tiny baby strapped on her back. Travel with her as the boats capsize and she calmly rescues valuable supplies and documents from the raging water. Follow her through the forest as she seeks healing roots and herbs for the voyagers who became ill during the journey. And feel her joy as she finds her long-lost brother, now a Shoshone chief.

Learn how this smart, courageous young woman saves the expedition by obtaining the horses needed to cross the Rocky Mountains and secures her place in history.

Sacagawea February 15, 2011

Most of us know about the expeditions of Lewis and Clark, and many of us have even heard the same Sacagawea, but how many of us actually know her story?  This book is action packed and full of adventure and gives us a peek into the life of the young Indian woman.  It brings history to life, from a different angle than we are used to hearing.  This is a great way to introduce your children to this aspect of our history!
