Beyond Drill to Real Skills

Most parents know that a child who only memorizes math facts without really understanding math will find progressively complex concepts more and more difficult to understand. But what they erroneously think is that such problems arise about the time a child is memorizing the multiplication table. Not so. Unlike reading, an integral skill that is tightly woven throughout our entire day, math tends to be a more sporadic subject, essential when you need it and then easily set aside. That is why it is imperative that a child is able to reason his way through any mathematical problem.

Award-winning Mathematical Reasoning is a great place to start. With 236 pages of quick, straightforward problems to build mathematical reasoning skills in preschoolers, these highly motivational activities will take your child beyond mere drill work by using step-by-step, discussion-based problem solving. Concepts spiral gradually so that children do not forget as they go. The concepts are written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Non-reproducible.

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2016 Preschool Curriculum Kit!

Table of Contents/Skills include: Addition, Count, Fractions, Language, Manipulative, Match, Order, Pattern, Shape, and Subtraction.

Perfect Preschool Math Book November 14, 2015
Reviewer: Jennifer H.
We completed P2 with a more traditional workbook based curriculum, and my son would get super bored. While I was excited about moving on to the Timberdoodle curriculum, I was nervous about this book. I couldn't have been more wrong! It feels more like puzzles and games than a worksheet. We are about 60 pages in, and I have witnessed him grasping new concepts, and continuing to use them as the book progresses. My only complaint is with the "Can you Find Me?" puzzles. The level of the descriptions seem to be levels above the surrounding concepts. The rhymes are too abstract in most cases. Besides that, my son loves doing work, and refuses to stop at one or two pages in a sitting. Really wish I could tear out the pages, but that's just me.

Fun Learning for my Little One September 15, 2015
Reviewer: Beth W.
My almost three-year-old daughter loves getting to spend time each day working on her "maf book." She loves that it looks so much like her five-year-old sister's book and feels quite grown up when she works her pages with me. I worried when I started homeschooling that I would not be able to keep my little one focused on school and that her big sister would suffer, but so far with wonderful resources like this, we have had a great time.

great intro to math September 4, 2015
Reviewer: Chalanda S.
I love the math reasoning curriculum. This was purchased for my 3 yr old and she loves it. The only issue is that it is not nearly challenging enough for her...she has finished 72pages in the 3 days we have had it...I wish I had gotten the next level up...so just a warning if you have a child who gets math concepts easily.

Perfect for visual learners! August 26, 2015
Reviewer: Courtney
We bought this for our preschooler and Mathematical Reasoning A for our kindergartener and LOVE them both. The books are set up in a way that they progress very easily while keeping the child's focus and interest with bright colors and easy to understand instructions! I will keep buying Mathematical Reasoning as long as they make a book for my child's level!

I cannot say enough good things about this book. We are doing the pre-k curriculum but I felt like my daughter needed to start with this book. Excellent book laid out in a fun, easy format.
