Timberdoodle's review   Create a masterpiece! What a brilliant way to introduce your children to great works of art. Using pre-cut 8x10 picture patterns and an assortment of eighteen non-toxic colored sands, your children now have the opportunity to recreate four well-known masterpieces: Mona Lisa, The Gleaners, Bedroom at Arles, and Still Life with Apples. Your children simply peel off a small portion of the design and apply their choice of colored sand to the remarkably strong adhesive. The very act of recreating these masterpieces will result in greater familiarity with each artist and will give your children a deeper appreciation for the artist's genius. Mimic the original, or attempt a Warhol adaptation by using only bold bright colors. Mixing the colors reveals even more options and more realism. Blending and other detailing hints are included. While we liked the original boxed kit, we were even more delighted with this special bundle that the manufacturer pulled together for us. It includes two each of every painting, eighteen easy-to-pour tubes of colored sand (which is four more than the standard kit), and a colored biographical sheet of the artists and their works. (It does not include cardboard frames or etching picks. The frames are an unnecessary expense for most families and toothpicks make excellent substitutes for the picks.) This set is for ages eight and older. Yes, moms, it is as fun as it looks.
