Timberdoodle's review Learn more
In their rush to teach their children how to read and do math, many parents overlook the importance of teaching their children how to think. That is akin to putting the cart before the horse, as thinking skills are a vital part of reading and math. By neglecting to teach children how to think either before or concurrently with other academics, parents and children will find learning a more arduous process as it needs to be. MightyMind is the game psychologists have recommended to parents whose 3- to 6-year-olds didn't do well on the spatial relations part of the exam.

The only problem with the original MightyMind is that many of the very children who would benefit most from it may lack the fine motor skills to use it. But now MightyMind is available with sturdy magnets for you to apply, allowing children who lack fine motor skills to be successful. And because each puzzle card handily fits into the metal lid Magnetic MightyMind makes a great traveling companion.

Cited by child development experts and educators as a program that develops essential skills every child needs, MightyMind is a tool for learning how to think. Not only does MightyMind encourage children to think, but also to explore and discover the way shapes can be combined to form intricate designs. When done in order, the puzzles in MightyMind progress in difficulty from using two semi-circles to form a circle, to making a train with cowcatcher! No reading is required.

magnet comes away from plastic shapes April 20, 2009
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Landers, CA United States
I affixed the sticky magnets to the plastic shapes as per the instructions. My 3 yr old daughter separated many of the magnets from their plastic backs. At first I merely blamed my daughter's destructive behavior, but after I saw how easily they came off, I changed my mind. Manufacturer needs to affix the magnets themselves and do some tests before creating a product like this!

A good game for quiet table time November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Anna G. from Fernandina Beach, FL
We have the non-magnetic version of this game.  My four year old girl, who loves puzzles, loves this game as well.  She will sit for 30 minutes and do each card sequentially.  My two year old boy wanted to try after watching her and was able to do a short version of his own.  My six year old boy who doesn't like puzzles as much still likes this game, but won't spend as long working it as my girl.  Since he is competitive, he wants to go straight to the hardest one to see if he can do it!  This is a good game for quiet table time which doesn't require much adult involvement for a 4 year old or older.

Magnetic would be better November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Amy S. from Pittsburg, KS
I selected Mighty Mind for my daughter, who has never really liked traditional puzzles.  She enjoyed this, although it took some convincing at first.  We played games where she tried to see how many she could get done before the timer went off.  I am really glad to see the magnetic version.  My only complaint was the frustration because the pieces slide around and wouldn't stay put!

Best pattern blocks set I have seen. November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Lori A. from Oak Harbor, WA
This is the best pattern blocks set I have seen. With the pieces having magnetic backs, the children can play with them using the case that they store in. This makes it great to take to doctor appointments, older siblings music lessons, church and even for trips in the car. And all my children enjoy playing with it - from 4 to 14. I highly recommend it.

I love that it's magnetic! October 27, 2008

My daughter loves playing with Mighty Minds. I love that it's magnetic, as I don't worry about losing pieces. I'm always amazed at her ability to do the cards.
