Timberdoodle's review

Brand new from one of Europe's oldest traditional toy makers comes Magnetibooks - sturdy, long-lasting picture identification and matching sets. Open the "book" to reveal a backdrop, compartments to hold the magnets, and vibrant picture cards with design ideas. Place the picture card on the inside cover, then use the magnetic pieces to recreate the design. Your creative child will also want to mix and match the magnetic pieces to create his own silly motifs.

Puzzle pieces are made from thick, durable cardboard and printed with non-toxic food-grade dyes. All the pieces are stored safely in the handy book-style case - perfect for travel. Each Magnetibook will enhance your preschooler's short-term memory, creativity, and fine motor skills. Designed in France and manufactured to extremely high standards, Magnetibooks are hard-wearing and suitable for ages three years and up.
Includes:
  • 32 magnetic pieces
  • 8 picture cards
  • storage box.

Kids love it! Minor durability issues. August 5, 2013
    Reviewer: Melissa Y.
My children are ages 7, 4, and 2, and they were all excited to play with this toy. It was a little too easy for my 7 year old, and didn't hold her attention for very long, but she did enjoy playing with it for a short while. My 4 year old is able to find the pieces and recreate the faces from the cards, and he also enjoys making his own silly faces. My 2 year old is able to recreate the faces with help, and she also likes making silly faces. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the magnetic pieces. They are a little flimsy, and some of the larger, longer, and skinnier pieces have become bent just by being jumbled in the box. The magnets are also not as strong as I would have liked and sometimes we have a little trouble getting the card to stick with the little circle magnets on the special square space. I had also planned on using this as a car travel toy, but because of the many small pieces and weak magnets it is really not suitable for this. Also, it is difficult to find the pieces you need in the small tray, so my kids like to dump it out and spread the pieces around so they can see them all better.

Good quality and captivating March 30, 2013

I bought this to help keep my 2 1/2 year old and 7 year old occupied during a homeschool convention. As soon as I pulled it out they were both immediately captivated and intrigued. The recommended age is 3-8 and it is just a little advanced for my 2 1/2 yr old but not so much that she cannot play with it with a little help. I like that the toy has some structured play suggestions with the picture cards, but I also like that it allows for very open-ended play where the child makes up their own endless face combinations. It is really nice that everything is contained in one compact sized box. *** We noticed that there is an empty square beside the face but no direction for using that space. The pictures above do not show that space being used either. My 12 year old figured out that you can put the picture in that square space and hold it up with one of the magnets -works perfect! All in all, this is a fun, creative, and educational toy.

Great for preschoolers March 5, 2013

We have this as well as the car version. This one is a better one to start with. My 3 year old son can progress through the cards that come with the Magnetibook Crazy Face. The car version has a lot more pieces and many of them smaller. This is better suited for a three year old because the pieces are generally larger so little hands can pick them up easier.

    Great game for 3! May 22, 2012

I ordered this and the vehicles version. My 3.5yo son played with the faces today and had a blast! He enjoyed making silly faces, but also he liked copying the included cards. I wish there were more cards, but it's good to encourage him to make his own faces. This is a good game for helping kids learn to pay attention to detail. The noses are similar, and the mouths are too, so you have to pick your nose correctly :0). He played with this for a good 30 minutes before I took it away to go play outside. The lid stays closed with the help of the magnet, which helps keep the pieces contained. I think it would be ok in a car, maybe, if you're ok with pieces going missing. Some are really small, so be careful if there will be little ones around. Overall, outstanding value for the money. It would make a great gift.
