Timberdoodle's review
Key to Percents first emphasizes mental computation and estimation skillsóbecause most work with percents is done without pencil and paper. Then students are taught to solve percent problems using equal fractions and decimal multiplication. Finally, percents are used to solve word problems in a variety of applications. Key to Percents assumes a knowledge of fraction and decimal computation.

About the Key To... series:
The Key To... series was developed by the same folks who produce Miquon Math. Though not manipulative dependent, there are scads of illustrations to make the concepts crystal clear. There is also a lot of white space, large type, and only one concept is presented per page.

The Key to ... books are not only easy to learn from, but also to follow along with if you, the teacher, are a little foggy on these topics! These books are self-directed, which means your child works independently at his own pace. What will you do with all your spare time?!?

Answer books are included in each pack, and the answers are clearly worked out, in case you need to bluff your way through!! More than 5 million of these workbooks have been bought since their creation over 30 years ago! Most workbooks are printed on recycled paper.

great reinforcement! January 14, 2013
Reviewer: Gina Mac
I use this after my student has completed 7th grade math to reinforce percent concepts, although it could be used to teach them from the beginning. Left on her own, my daughter always completes more at a time than I would have thought to assign, because it transitions through the book so smoothly. I love the mental math and all the practical applications, such as pie charts, floor plans, RDA of nutrition, tax, sports stats, etc.

Easy to read and understand November 5, 2008
Reviewer: LaVonne F. from Laurel, MT
The Key To mathematics books, though black and white, held my girls' attention and they found them easy to read and understand to complete the exercises.  My first experience with them was about 1995 and I have purchased them again this year 2008 for my younger daughter.

Presents the concept most clearly.... October 27, 2008
Reviewer: Lucille A. from Hampton, VA
We use Key to Percents as a supplement for all  our chiuldren (we have 13 children) when they begin learning percents in 7th grade.  We found that by taking a few weeks to complete Key to Percents, we save invaluable time later.  Key to Percents presents that concept more clearly than any other curriculum we've used or reviewed.  It is well worth the time and money.

Great for multiple grades! October 23, 2008
Reviewer: Cynda M. from Columbia, KY
The Key To Math series has been perfect for my son who has wanted to learn math mostly on his own. He talks about "what they are teaching me" even though all he has is workbooks. The only thing I've had to do is check his work, and the answer keys make that task very easy. This is a great program for a student who is "advanced" or "behind" since there are no grade levels.

Highly recommend October 18, 2008
Reviewer: Heidi J. from Plains, MT
Our family has loved the "Key to..." books.  They are nicely paced, thorough in their coverage of principles, easy to use, and reasonably priced.  I would highly recommend them as a supplement to any math curriculum, or as a stand alone in teaching specific concepts.
