Timberdoodle's review
Do you have students who have never mastered fraction concepts or who need a good review? Key to Fractions covers all topics from basic concepts to mixed numbers and is written with secondary students in mind. Minimal reading is required, so students can easily work independently or in small groups.

With lots of white space, large type, and the use of only one new concept per page, these books are decidedly user-friendly.
These self-paced, self-guided workbooks motivate students to succeed.

About the Key To... series:
The Key To... series was developed by the same folks who produce Miquon Math. Though not manipulative dependent, there are scads of illustrations to make the concepts crystal clear. There is also a lot of white space, large type, and only one concept is presented per page.

The Key to ... books are not only easy to learn from, but also to follow along with if you, the teacher, are a little foggy on these topics! These books are self-directed, which means your child works independently at his own pace. What will you do with all your spare time?!?

Answer books are included in each pack, and the answers are clearly worked out, in case you need to bluff your way through!! More than 5 million of these workbooks have been bought since their creation over 30 years ago! Most workbooks are printed on recycled paper.

I am pleased with this product February 10, 2012

This product has really been a gem in teaching my 9 yrs old daughters' fraction concepts. The lessons are incremental, step by step and in a strange way fun. There is some review in the beginning of each book of the prior materials taught in the previous book except of course for the first one. One gripe I may have is that it doesn;t explain exactly what happens when you multiply fractions. It shows you the steps of how to do the problem but no explanation of how and why. I was hoping for some kind of explanation with the circles or bars or something like that. The books are not meant to be math spine book but still it should have that extra component in my humble opinion. Many books don't explain that concept well and I am sure Key To Fractions would do great job of explaining it in a simple way. I will be ordering all the other books as well and we will be cycling through all the books in one year. Book 1 fractions, decimals, metric measurement, measurement then book 2 ....

solid independence October 24, 2011

Key to Fractions has been the perfect solution for my 10-yr-old.  We don't typically do formal school over the summer, because I need a break more than my kids do.  Yet we've always done "Summer Smarts", which is just a creative name for keeping my kids learning, yet my planning to a minimum.  I chose Key to Fractions for my 10-yr-old, and she was successfully able to work through the entire series on her own.  Plenty of blank space on each page encourages her to do lots of pages, WITH A GREAT ATTITUDE!  This fall I had her take several placement tests, and I think this series pushed her up to a 7th grade level.

Easy to read and understand November 5, 2008
Reviewer: LaVonne F. from Laurel, MT
The Key To mathematics books, though black and white, held my girls' attention and they found them easy to read and understand to complete the exercises.  My first experience with them was about 1995 and I have purchased them again this year 2008 for my younger daughter.

Great for multiple grades! October 23, 2008
Reviewer: Cynda M. from Columbia, KY
The Key To Math series has been perfect for my son who has wanted to learn math mostly on his own. He talks about "what they are teaching me" even though all he has is workbooks. The only thing I've had to do is check his work, and the answer keys make that task very easy. This is a great program for a student who is "advanced" or "behind" since there are no grade levels.

Highly recommend October 18, 2008

Our family has loved the "Key to..." books.  They are nicely paced, thorough in their coverage of principles, easy to use, and reasonably priced.  I would highly recommend them as a supplement to any math curriculum, or as a stand alone in teaching specific concepts.
