| As Much Fun to Play As It Is to Say!
If you are looking for a rousing way to take a child's spelling skills from a simmer to a boil, then you are looking for Jumbulaya. In this word-building strategy game, players practice spelling, transform words with prefixes, suffixes and consonant blends, and expand roots into compounds.
Each player, using his own five letter tiles or the letter tiles on the board, rearranges, adds, or trades tiles, building and claiming longer words each turn. With nine lines to play on, Jumbulaya requires concentration and thinking on multiple levels. Simultaneously, as players build words horizontally, they also look for a Jumbulaya, which is a seven or more tile word that can be spelled vertically on the board.
Personally, for our family, just conquering the horizontal lines is challenging enough, but if your family has skilled wordsmiths, this facet of Jumbulaya will make them quiver with delight. Jumbulaya has been awarded a 2008 Game Of The Year Award from Creative Child Magazine and is a 2008 Mensa Select Gold Seal Winner. For two to four players, ages eight and up.
