Italic Handwriting Book C – Grade 2
Italic Handwriting Book C teaches your second grader to refine his printed italic letters and begin cursive italic, using the Getty-Dubay method. Practice content is built around things a second grader is already learning to spell—days of the week, months, U.S. cities, transportation, names—so handwriting practice doubles as review of words he actually needs. Letters are sized at 9mm and 6mm, with black-and-white line drawings throughout and practice for capitals, lowercase, and numerals.
The cursive italic in this book builds directly on the printed letters from Book B. Because italic uses one alphabet throughout, your child isn't starting cursive from scratch—he's mostly learning to connect letters he already knows how to form. Book C starts with basic italic review and moves into cursive from there.
We've always been handwriting realists around here. You can absolutely succeed in life with chicken scratch—but legible writing is a real gift to whoever's on the receiving end. Back when most of our orders came in by mail, we noticed the clearly written ones. Years later, the benefits of legibility haven't changed.
Book C is a good fit for a typical second grader, or for a child who has worked through Book B and is ready to start cursive without setting aside his print practice.
