Timberdoodle's review   You who have loved the Pathway series have begged us to find more. While it is hard to beat the sincere wholesomeness of an Amish textbook, we trust that you will find Reading to Learn equally appealing. While the Pathway series shows life from an Amish perspective, shunning electricity and cars, the Reading to Learn series is from a Conservative Mennonite viewpoint, so nonresistance and modest behavior are two of the many sterling qualities that shine forth. Although some families will insist on using this series as a reading program, I think that they are just as valuable as age-appropriate wholesome reading material. Be forewarned, like Pathway, Reading to Learn seems to be more advanced than your typical government school readers, so you may need to ease your beginning readers into these books. Wholesome Stories February 18, 2010 Reviewer: Jessica Phillips from Bloomington, IN United States   It's so difficult to find quality readers.  This series not only reinforces early phonics skills, but also teaches important character lessons.  There are simple follow up questions which are useful for testing comprehension.  Additionally, many sweet and simple poems are incorporated throughout.  Delightful! My daughter has enjoyed this book very much November 3, 2008 Reviewer: Angie G. from Germantown, Maryland   I Wonder, part of the Reading to Learn series from Christian Light Education, is an excellent reader. My daughter has enjoyed this book very much. The book is hardback and very high quality. The print is large and some of the words are typed in bold, which are listed as vocabulary words in the back of the book by chapter as well as in alphabetical order. There are some pictures and poems throughout. What I really like about this (and the other books in this series) is that the stories are interesting and wholesome. The book is also long in duration, 216 pages, so it can be used for a long period of time.  There is also a list of study words for each chapter in the back of the book, which is helpful for vocabulary and spelling.  These words are easy to find in the chapters because they are in bold print. I do think that the reading is advanced for early 1st graders, but it could be used later in the school year. Was this review helpful to you?

Highly recommended! October 27, 2008 Reviewer: Hilary B. from Edgewater, MD   The Reading to Learn Readers are books that our family cherishes. We have used these not as  reading program, but simply as wholesome reading. My children are challenged by the text, yet seem to come away from these much more calm and focused on the way God calls us to live. The wording is perfect for the designated age.
