Graphic American History

Some children have seemingly insatiable appetites when it comes to history; others flee at the mere mention of it. Wherever your child is on that spectrum, graphic novels make a great fit. For the child who thrives on history but is not quite ready for pages and pages of plain type, Graphic American History will reinforce his passion for the subject by providing small amounts of relevant text and scores of inviting illustrations. You will find that the reading and rereading of these books with such memorable visuals will cement into young minds a timeline of American history much more lasting than any text-only manuscript can. And for the child who balks at history, imagine his delight this year when history is not a weighty tome of boring and difficult text but is instead Graphic American History, a series of engaging, easy-to-read graphic novels that will imbed in him vital historical events in American history from 1500 to the present.

Using striking and colorful graphics, these books are stuffed with intriguing historical facts but none of the banality typical of the subject matter. Four-color throughout, each history title is fifty-six pages. Beginning with the New World in the 1500s and continuing through Barack Obama's inauguration, there are thirteen titles in this extraordinary series. The reading level is about fourth grade, while the interest level covers approximately second through twelfth grade. This series was printed by a secular company; you should know that throughout the entire thirteen book series you will find a couple instances of what we consider inappropriate language. As these are isolated to a word or two, a touch of whiteout easily rectifies the matter. If your time is too precious to read each book before your child, you will be delighted to know that we have cited the questionable words, with page numbers.
