Timberdoodle's review   Children as young as 5 years old can build up to four simple Fischertechnik models at the same time. The instruction leaflet also contains suggestions for making up to 6 more advanced models. With the identical pieces engineers use to build prototypes, this is an ideal introduction Fischertechnik for the kindergarten crowd. About Fischertechnik: It's hard to believe that we've been using Fischertechnik for nearly 20 years, but it's true. With my engineering bent, as soon as we were told there were engineer-quality sets available to teach engineering principles, we had to have them. Although at that time even our oldest children were too young to get into pneumatics and robotics, they could build the simplest of models and be rewarded for their efforts by having a smoothly running piece of machinery. At least that was our thought. But when we added Fischertechnik to our curriculum, we quickly realized that one of our daughters was incapable of intuiting even the most fundamental aspects of construction; translating from 2-D to 3-D was not an automatic skill for her. Instead of shrugging our shoulders and hoping that maturity would resolve those issues, we instead embarked on a plan to build that very necessary skill, and Fischertechnik was the process we used. After Lego, we were at a loss - these are great! November 5, 2008 Reviewer: Elizabeth L. from Dublin, Virginia   My son is advanced for his age and mechanically inclined. Although this is a wonderful blessing it has been a challenge for our family to find materials to hold his interest and keep him challenged. After going through all of the Lego and other available construction projects available to us we were at a loss. I am so grateful for timberdoodle for making Fishertechnic available and for keeping it affordable. Thanks to their reviews I was able to determine which items would suit his needs...and they have been great!! He has been able to build  models of transmissions, of pneumatics and of motors with technical accuracy and understanding. I would encourage any family to put these models into the hands of their children, both the gifted and those whose strengths are in other areas, we all drive automobiles and at some point in our lives will need the ability to assemble models of one kind or another. There is something for everyone here, and the models are well suited to homeschool families and age ranges. Try one of the intro models offered at a reasonable price...and you will be convinced! This will be passed on to my grandchildren! November 4, 2008 Reviewer: Connie H. from Chagrin Falls, OH   If you have a child that likes 3D construction, this is the best.  My son started with Fischertechnik when he was 4 or 5- and only needed help for a short time.  At age 19, he still likes to use these.  Each year, we would add something, according to his interest.  I know, this will be passed on to my grandchildren.  The only issue is keeping the pieces sorted.  But they make great boxes too. These kits (pick anyone you want!) are THE BEST!!! October 31, 2008 Reviewer: Karren C. from Elizabeth, CO   These kits (pick anyone you want!) are THE BEST for teaching hands-on kids how things work, what makes it "tick", what it looks like when you don't want them taking the real thing apart(!) and has them thinking the whole way! Especially great for boys who need things to do(!) that are real and valuable and they don't have to be reading to do it!  We LOVE these products.
