Famous Figures of Ancient Times
If you have multiple children, then you no doubt have noticed the unique proclivities of each one. Our middle child lived for art. Her most prized possessions were a tape dispenser, scissors, and endless amounts of paper. Famous Figures of Ancient Times was made for such a child.

While you read historical accounts aloud, your avid artist can color in the detailed figures of twenty people who shaped history, such as Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Hannibal and his elephant, and others. A hole-punch and common fasteners allow their arms and legs to move and their swords and shields to flash. For the meticulous child who wants to color it exactly right, matching pre-colored action figures are also included.

"Great for kids who like crafts: Detailed, colored figures from history, from Narmer to Augustine, to cut out and assemble. The figures are on cardstock with moveable joints. Good for decorating timelines or just for fun." - Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise, authors of The Story of the World

So much Fun October 31, 2016

My daughter is loving these figures so far. They go nicely with story of the world and are a good size. My only complaint is that I wish they were punch out instead of cut out. Overall, we love them!

Stunning figures, children love it October 26, 2015

Beautifully designed and illustrated! We're working out way slowly through Story of the World and the figures move seamlessly along with the text. Once completed, the figures are fun to play with and display. I really feel like they are helping enforce what the children are learning.Obviously it takes a lot of care to cut out out all the pieces and to insert the brads so prepare for that time if your children haven't mastered scissor skills. The only "con" is that, like so many materials, this book is printed in China. For the price (and I would certainly have paid more for it, especially if I knew it was responsibly sourced), it ought to be printed domestically or by a country with higher standards and a fair wage.

    Fun! October 9, 2015

My 5 year old likes these - she needs a little help assembling, but slightly older children could probably do this completely on their own. I like that there are two of every figure - one colored, and one white for your child to color in. The paper is of sufficient quality and I feel like you get enough for the price (I don't usually feel this way about many arts and crafts projects!). What I do not like is if you are using this as a supplement with SOTW history, there are a few figures that are not really talked abut in the SOTW series - so we'll have to find some other time to fit them in to our lessons. Certainly not a huge drawback - I would still buy these again for my next 1st grader.

Another Favorite From Timberdoodle March 9, 2015
    Reviewer: Stephanie J.
My boys love assembling their famous figures while I read their history lesson to them. The finished product is impressive so I display them on our school room door. We have had many visitors to our home compliment our paper dolls and it has provided my children with the opportunity to share what they learned while making a particular figure. I wouldn't think of teaching history without using these.

I like that they are a nice size at least 12 inches tall once put together and that their arms and legs move. My children love to play with them.
