Structures & Bridges
Life wouldn’t be possible without structures. While you may not think about it in this way, your body, a swing set, a tree, and the Washington Monument all have something in common: they are all structures. Simply put, structures support weight, and the easiest way to explore the different ways structures do that is through a study of bridges.

Understand Bridges!
With Engino Structures & Bridges, your children will learn how weight is distributed, the advantages of a suspension bridge, how triangulation strengthens construction, how tension gives stability to a bridge, and what we need to do to make a home more structurally sound.

Fun for the Whole Family!
Engino Structures & Bridges includes 365 of Engino’s celebrated components and a colorful, child-friendly activity booklet with detailed explanations of the technology employed. The activity booklet also contains interesting facts, hands-on experiments, exercises, and even quizzes. Engino Structures & Bridges includes an additional wordless booklet with step-by-step instructions on how to construct the six main models. Your children will never look at structures the same way again!

  • Over 365 pieces!

    Build the following models:

    An arch bridge
Build an amazing model of an arch bridge and learn the properties of the arch! See how this bridge can be made stable and can support a lot of weight by transferring it to the abutments.

    A suspension bridge
This fascinating model of a suspension bridge will introduce you to a special type of bridge, the cable bridge! Learn by experimenting how the tension of the cables supports the deck of the bridge.

    A truss bridge
Build two models of a truss bridge, one with the truss over the deck and one with the truss under the deck! Learn how triangulation offers great stability and rigidity to structure. Discover different types of the same bridge.

    A cable-stayed bridge
This model of a cable-stayed bridge is another type of a cable bridge. One famous example of this bridge is the Rio-Antirion bridge in Greece, the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridge. Discover the two types of cable-stayed bridges.

    A house structure
Make a model of a house and learn how triangles and squares are elements we can use to make our structures more stable. Discover all the different types of forces and loads.

Engino Mechanical Structures & Bridges – A Timberdoodle Review
"...I thought the set would be a lot like Lego’s. Well, it is and it isn’t. You do build things in a modular step-by-step process like with Lego’s. But this is so much more than a toy! As a homeschooling Mom I was beyond thrilled that it came with a hands –on activity book. This book not only gives background information on structures and architectural principles including weight distribution, triangulation, tension, and more. It is filled with additional experiments, colorful pictures of modern day architecture, quizzes, and so more..." Review by Beth of Living Life Intentionally

"...The blocks hold together very well – they are a bit harder for smaller hands to lock together in some cases but for the most part….”gotta use your muscle” as my little man says. I loved how creative he was able to be with this set...my son was a bit young to grasp many of the teaching concepts and the reading within the books but we will be bringing it out again (the books I mean) when he is older to review and I just know that he will thoroughly enjoy these as a part of his “school” as he gets older. However just based on the building abilities with this set alone we are very pleased. Lots of pieces and lots of different ways to make them work together. What could be better for a growing boy?"

It is great. I especially liked working with the cables. It was somewhat complicated to put together; my older sister helped me.

Wonderful introduction to bridge mechanics! October 10, 2011

This kit has been a wonderful addition to our learning and our play. The pieces can be fit together in different ways and some can even be adjusted for height. Around here, that means we can leave the instructions behind and see what other bridges and features can be designed. Also included are sturdy strings which can be used to simulate suspension bridges or to attempt various pulley type bridge additions. Two separate books allow the child to either follow instructions to make bridges for fun and play OR to learn the hows and whys of the bridge while they build it. Additional challenges and experiments are included in the instructional book to really bring home the concept. You could easily make a science unit out of just this kit. I plan to buy several other kits from this line of products.
