Electronic Snap Circuits Kit 300
Being a Timberdoodle 'chick' (a Timberdoodle is a bird) is not an easy assignment. Sure, you have immediate access to all sorts of leading-edge educational materials. But more often than not that means previewing new curricula while also keeping up with the old programs.

Over 300 Projects
So when Pearl, then eight, saw that Electronic Snap Circuits Kit had over 300 projects, she panicked. "Couldn't I just hope that I marry a man that already knows electronics?" she pleaded. Nope. The box said for ages eight and older and we had to know if the typical eight-year-old can follow the instructions and build the projects. We not only found out that an eight-year-old can utilize this kit, but that our initially reluctant eight-year-old loved it!

Whistle, Alarms, Fan...
The Electronic Snap Circuits Kit, with simple-to-construct projects, uses more than 60 color-coded parts with snaps to assemble the different electrical and electronic circuits. Includes a switch, lamp, battery, and wire blocks of different lengths, plus such nifty items as a whistle chip, photosensitive resistor, speaker, fan, music-integrated circuit, and alarm-integrated circuit. As your child progresses through the 300+ projects, many important design concepts are introduced and developed. With all the bells and whistles, and believe me, there is no lack of clanging bells or ear piercing whistles in this set, your child is sure to find electronics as captivating as Pearl did.

Recommended for ages eight and up. An optional 112-page student and teacher guide is available separately.

    Hands-on Learning Entertainment June 1, 2012

This was probably one of the first things we purchased through Timberdoodle and my kids STILL love it years later! It was a little pricy for something "extra", but I took the plunge and have been very grateful! Electronics is nearly impossible to learn without doing something hands-on! My boys also did an electronics class with the boy scouts the old fashioned way and had continuous problems with loose wires, connections, etc. so it was very frustrating for them to try to learn from that. Once they were home and had strong connections with their projects, it was not just so much easier to learn, but a lot of fun! The only tip I would give is NOT to buy a second set! (I picked up a second set at a used book sale) I thought these were like lego kits and you could just continue to add on, but the kits are pretty much the same with just more advanced projects for the bigger kits.

My son has LOVED this set. I bought it when he was 6 and he was able, with help, to assemble this and has enjoyed it ever since.

Definitely worth the money October 3, 2011

I bought the Electronic Snap Circuits Kit almost a year ago for my 10-year-old twin girls, and it's a "gift that keeps on giving." They used it heavily for a week, and after about a month we put it away. Since then, we've taken it out several times and they've been just as interested in it as they were at first. Lots of challenging projects to do, which require following directions and diagrams.

Younger kids want to play too December 6, 2010
Reviewer: Sarah E. from Oklahoma, USA
I definitely give this five stars for an eight-and-up toy.  It's such a user-friendly and FUN introduction to the principles of electronics.  But it's so easy to use that your kids younger than eight are going to want to play too.  And they can-- it's definitely simple enough for them to use.  But some of the parts are a little bit delicate and younger children might not be as careful with them.  We got this for my older boy when he was almost eight and his brother was six.  That was two years ago and it has gotten lots of consistent play (I love to look in their room and see them totally engrossed in it) but we have some missing and broken parts because of little brother not being as careful with it as big brother would have been.

very durable and enjoyable November 1, 2010

My boys LOVE this toy...and little do they know they are actually learning too.   Probably their favorite thing to do is make the flying disk soar...and just last week I found them trying to figure out the longest circuit they could create and still watch the disk fly.  i plan to buy more peices for them for Christmas this year....it is a great gift that will last for years.
