When our family first experienced the wonders of DeltaSand, we were immediately smitten. Imported from Sweden, this extraordinary product has the characteristics of wet sea sand that never dries out. So DeltaSand can be molded into roads, tunnels, hills, and valleys, or pounded flat and etched into with a firm stylus. Dry to the touch, you can mold, squeeze, and sculpt it without all the mess of normal sand. Ready to use right out of the box and always reusable, DeltaSand consists of specially selected grains of sand coated with a thin layer of a binding agent that yields some very unique properties.
Because the soft, wax-coated sand sticks together and never dries out, anything your child sculpts can be baked in a 250-degree oven. Once cooled it becomes a durable work of art or a permanent prop in his imaginative play. But reheat it again and crumble while warm, and it reverts to the moldable, squeezable sand.
Has your child expressed an interest in carving? DeltaSand can be heated in the oven to make a solid lump that behaves like soft marble. Chip away at the slab until you get the figure you want and then paint it. Scraps that have been whittled off can be heated, softened, and reused.
DeltaSand is completely safe, nonstaining, allergen-free, does not contain latex, and is nontoxic to the point of even being edible! If you have children with compromised immunities you will be delighted to know that DeltaSand can also be sanitized by spraying a mist of chlorine bleach and water, then letting it air dry.
Children and adults who have suffered brain injuries leading to weakened or impaired fine-motor skills will discover DeltaSand is wonderful for sensory integration activities and for strengthening fingers and hands. It offers resistance, feels soothing in the hands, and cleans up easily. Used in many hospitals for therapeutic activities, it is just as valuable in the home.
We have yet to have a child visit who is not immediately caught up in the wonder of DeltaSand. Adults too are mesmerized by this sand that never dries out and never wears out. Our set includes a sturdy, easy-to-assemble plastic box, a two pound bag of DeltaSand, brick maker, and an eightpiece castle mold set. Some of the accessories work better than others (some of us had difficulty mastering the staircase mold), but the syringes were outstanding. Two pounds of sand will not seem like much until you begin clean-up! However, additional sand is available. |
