    Cookie Recipes & Allowance
Whether your children realize it or not, they use math every day, from doubling the cookie recipe to banking their allowance. But mention word problems and most children recoil. Word problems are designed to show that the mathematical principles your children are learning are related to the mathematical problems they will encounter in real life.

    Repeated, Daily Exposure
Most math textbooks emphasize rote drillwork. But real life applications, the most important part of any subject matter, are often overlooked. Yet even if a math curriculum includes the national norm of about 10% word problems, most children benefit greatly from repeated, daily exposure. With just minutes a day, Daily Word Problems will help your children apply mathematical knowledge to analyze and solve real-world problems.

    Mimicking Real Life
The hardest thing about doing word problems is taking the words and translating them into the math equation, so though the use of interesting themes, charts, and graphs, Daily Word Problems will help your child see patterns to solving these types of problems. Daily Word Problems' inclusion of diverse word problems to mimic the problems faced in the real world will help your children to understand that no matter what occupation they choose, they will need math.

My son just loves this workbook. We always end with math as it is his favorite subject! He is always asking if he can do more or when we are going to do it! I may even start doing more than one day with him since he loves it so much! I will for sure buy this again!

Keeps Word Problem Skills Sharp! November 8, 2013
    Reviewer: Kimberlee
When I was a kid, my teachers said the same thing to my parents at every parent-teacher conference, "She does well in math, but she just doesn't seem to have a good grasp on how to solve word problems...but then again, I don't really do much with word problems in my classroom." And it was the truth! I always struggled through word problems -- even though I pulled straight A's through my entire academic experience -- and my teachers never really did much with them. I determined not to let that be my kids' struggle, and I feel like the Evan Moor Daily Word Problems series has been the perfect solution for that. They get plenty of word problem practice, so it's not overwhelming when they hit those kinds of problems in their regular math program. Through daily practice, they are learning to identify math in the world around them. I feel like I'm doing something important for my kids by buying these books every year.

Love this entire series! October 11, 2013

I teach Special Ed Math at the Middle School level. I bought Grades 2 through 5 in this series and I love them. There's lots of work space and problems are a good challenge for my students. I e-mail each week's problems to myself and show them on my Smart Board and we work on each daily problem together.

My son LOVES these! January 16, 2013

My son is 8 and absolutely LOVES these daily word problems!! If I am not paying attention, he'll do the whole week in one sitting. He works through them quickly, which adds to his confidence in math. We will definitely use these again next year!

    Just One a Day! May 31, 2012
    Reviewer: Christine T
My daughter and I love the Daily Math Word Problems. My daughter has worked in book 2 and she is now finishing up with book 3. I love that all she has to do is just one problem a day. It is easy for her to complete and she doesn't get frustrated. Plus, it gives her more practice with math word problems, which are not always in her daily math assignments.
