Daily 6-Trait Writing
Help your child develop writing skills using daily lessons that fit into every language arts program. Are you familiar with trait writing? Trait-based writing is an impressive method educators have developed to determine if a child's writing is skilled or not.

The six traits or characteristics that shape quality writing are content; organization; word choice; sentence fluency; voice; and conventions, which include grammar, spelling, and mechanics. It may sound ominous, but Daily 6-Trait Writing has made it effortless.

With 125 dynamic writing lessons, Daily 6-Trait Writing will provide your child practice and instruction concerning all the skills essential to becoming a competent writer. Research proves that a solid understanding of the six traits of writing improves a child's ability to write successfully, and just fifteen minutes or less a day is all it will take. Daily 6-Trait Writing is correlated to state standards for educators, with a dash of fun for our apprentice writers.

This book is exactly what we need in our school room! My kids needed to have something to enhance their writing skills without being overwhelmed with lengthy essays to write. What a gift!

I love this product! Love the day to day projects so its not to much in one day! Love how it gives the kids a way to be creative and use there own stuff along with the teaching tools to write better. Love that it helps parents to teach in an easy way! Thanks for a great product!

Liked this so much, I bought it again! October 30, 2012
Reviewer: Blessed with 5
I use this product daily with my daughter. This is the first year she is homeschooling and Daily 5 trait writing has been a blessing. As with my other children, there was very little writing instruction in school. Although they can write complete sentences, they cannot put them together to form a good paragraph. This product is helping her to learn that process in a way that is not overwhelming her. On the 5th day of the week, she does the writing prompt in a journal where she can draw an illustration to go along with the topic. It is working so well that I have ordered the 6th grade edition for my 7th grader to use to help him gain confidence in writing. The only suggestion I would make is to put the teaching pages in the back so they can be removed.

Engaging Basics May 31, 2012

I wish that I had started this program in 3rd grade with my other kids. My 3rd grader has almost finished this book. At the beginning of the school year, he was in tears when I showed him the book and he saw the word writing. Now, he is actually beginning to enjoy writing. His skills have improved and he understands how to construct a good sentence, paragraph, and story. The lessons are short, which he likes. I like that he is learning material geared toward his age. I also like that there are instructional sheets throughout the book detailing how to teach each page.

Good supplement to English May 31, 2012
Reviewer: Erin
This book was not the greatest. It certainly covered a lot of information but was choppy and didn't flow well. We finished it because I hate to start something and not finish but I will not continue with this series. I didn't like how the teacher's pages were at the beginning of each chapter and while you were in the middle of teaching them, you have to keep flipping back to reference those pages. Also, in the teacher's pages, there are answers given so the child knows he can look there and get the answers. Some moms may not mind this, but I want an independent thinker and not a cheater. All in all, there was much to be learned but I think it was a hard way to learn new material. I think this book it better suited to reinforce ideas/lessons/words that your child already knows.
