We used these my son was in first grade. Later, I got rid of them in a frantic effort to clean out clutter in my house. A few days later my son was looking for them and became quite disturbed that his math rods had been given away! Apparently they made a great impression on him, and he really dislikes the plastic rods I replaced them with. Maybe your kids will like cuisenaire rods as much as my son does. Timberdoodle's are wooden and that makes a big difference.

I loved pulling these out and letting my kids enjoy math with their Miquon Math books. It's amazing how much they love learning when you hand them colored blocks!

We use the Cuisenaire Rods to supplement our math curriculum. My 4-year old loves exploring patterns with them, and my 8-year old uses them for problem-solving tools. They also love to just "play" with them and make discoveries in math measuring relationships. What a great benefit for students of many ages to be excited when math manipulatives come out!

My daughter (8) likes the Cuisenaire Rods, but my son (6) loves them. They are exactly what he needed to draw him into learning. He is very hands on and looks forward to working with them everyday. He will ask if he can do his schoolwork again later in the same day. It really brings out his creativity while allowing him to be busy with his hands. I would recommend these to anyone.

We have used this for several years. Not just for learning math facts but in counting things rather than using fingers. It's also helpful in showing patterns and sequence's. We use these all the time.
