Critical & Creative Thinking Activities: Grade 6, encourages your child to look beyond the obvious, analyze information carefully, and consider problems from multiple perspectives. How to Use Critical & Creative Thinking Activities – Grade 6
- A simple approach is to complete two double-sided pages each week. This pace allows your child to finish the workbook during a typical school year while leaving room for holidays, travel, and schedule adjustments.
- If your child prefers to stay immersed in a topic, consider completing two full units each week or four units every three weeks. Since each unit centers on a specific theme, some students find it easier to complete the entire unit before moving on.
- Encourage your child to explain his reasoning as he works through puzzles, codes, comparisons, and problem-solving activities. Discussing possible solutions often strengthens critical-thinking skills as much as finding the answer itself.
- Feel free to adjust the pace throughout the year. The workbook works well as a regular thinking-skills course, an enrichment activity, or an occasional supplement alongside other subjects.
- If needed, take a week to revisit particularly challenging activities or favorite themes before moving forward.
- With regular practice, your child will strengthen reasoning, problem-solving, pattern recognition, creativity, and flexible thinking as they work through a wide variety of engaging challenges.

More a boring puzzle book than a fun thinking book

With respect to the other reviewers, I'm going to be somewhat contrarian with this review. I did not like this book. It just seemed like busy puzzle work for a 6th grader. About a 20% of the problems/answers are free response which take more time to grade, 20% are anagrams or variations of anagrams and another 20% codings puzzles. There is no noticeable progression of skills or exercises. After 4-5 lessons it just seemed repetitive, and my kids hated it; it was pure drudgery for them. Ultimately, I could not see an improvement in cognitive or intuitive skills with this book. Combine this with the the fun factor of zero merits my two stars review. Again, this is contrarian as it gets a lot of positive reviews, but I can't recommend it.

Makes Them Think!

I am a fan of anything that makes my children think and this book does just that. My children have mixed feelings about this book. I have found that they really enjoy the creativity in some of the exercises and although they do complain about some of the more challenging ones, that is fine with me because I know it is requiring them to think! This book definitely encourages thinking outside the box and it covers a wide variety of subjects.
