How to Use Critical & Creative Thinking Activities
- Choose the pacing that works best for your family. Completing about four pages per week will comfortably finish the book during a typical school year.
- For a more cohesive approach, complete one full unit each week. Since each unit centers on a single theme, this allows your child to stay engaged with the topic while working through the activities and final challenge.
- Feel free to adjust the schedule as needed for holidays, illness, travel, or weeks when other subjects require extra attention. The workbook is easy to pause and resume.
- Pay attention to the activities your child enjoys most. Some students gravitate toward logic puzzles and codes, while others prefer comparison activities, mazes, pattern challenges, or creative-thinking exercises.
- The themed units can be completed in order or selected to complement topics you're already studying. Either approach works well.

We've had some previous experience with the Critical and Creative series, so I knew what to expect from book 3. The puzzles cover a variety of information, which I appreciate because my son would naturally gravitate toward his own interests. Some of the puzzles are tricky, so we often do this activity together, but it is a neat way to introduce "out of the box" thinking to my son. It is a helpful way to consistently practice how to solve problems (i.e. should we draw a picture to help us, do we need to change the way we are thinking about this and try to solve it another way...) without a lot of outside prep from me.

This is fun option for thinking and critical skills. I love that you can make it short (do 1 pg or however many you want) so it isn’t overwhelming. The pages are beautifully crafted so it’s visually appealing. Great option!

We used this series for the past 3 years and it is a nice laid-back activity for my 3rd grader to work on while I’m working with my second grader. He is getting to the point that he can do some pages independently. I plan to get the next book for 4th grade.
