Teaching Textbooks Pre-Calculus is a full-year curriculum designed to be completed independently, using the textbook and computer software. Rigorous enough to prepare any teen for college, but friendly enough to keep the tears at bay, Friendly Chemistry covers all topics typically taught in a traditional high-school chemistry course, starting with the atom. In both of the two volumes, each lesson begins with teaching tips and detailed instructions and explanations for each component of the lesson. The teaching tips are followed by the text portion of the lesson and then by worksheets, tests, hands-on activities, and games. This multi-sensory approach will help your teen remember what she has learned. Labs use household items and other resources that are generally easy to obtain, but it is the labs that present the only difficulty of using Friendly Chemistry independently, as we've designed this program. The problem? A couple of the labs require the use of a mystery concoction that the student is supposed to analyze. Our suggestion is to simply have your student turn the book over to you long enough for you to set the solution up, then hand it back so she can continue with her independent learning. |
