Timberdoodle's Second-Grade Handbook
This guide helps you know which books to use when and how to schedule your school year. A weekly schedule is included to give you enough structure to make sure your child doesn't miss anything, without the stress of an overly specific plan that leaves no room for the give and take of real life.

Concepts spiral gradually, so that children do not forget as they go, and are written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Building Thinking Skills 1
Building Thinking Skills Book One was a favorite school assignment in our family. This comprehensive, straightforward program develops four basic analytical skills (similarities/differences, sequences, classification, and analogies) through both figural and verbal problems. Sound intimidating? Don't worry, the exercises are clear, with sample completed activities so that the student can see exactly what to do. The activities offer lots of variety too, from finding the identical matching figure to selecting the most similar adjective from a list or describing the parts of a whole.
Daily Geography 2
Basic geography is essential, but done in large, infrequent doses it can become tedious or, worse yet, too quickly forgotten. Daily Geography uses a short daily lesson approach that avoids both pitfalls.
2015 Second Grade Complete
Written in a whimsical and conversational manner, Word Fun is a gentle introduction to the eight most significant parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, interjections, and prepositions. Word Fun's vivid and imaginative, full-page illustrations will help even your younger children visualize each part of speech. The goofy storylines and striking, full-of-movement illustrations in Word Fun make what would otherwise be a dull topic inviting.
Pathway Readers 2
Designed to be used in Amish classrooms, these basal readers are solidly wholesome, with none of the fantasy that is commonplace in both Christian and secular readers. Because the Amish don't use electricity, you won't find stories dealing with the latest in films, computers, or TVs. Instead, the stories are centered on farm life, with horse auctions, harvests, and LARGE families. With simple typesetting and a few black-and-white sketches, these hardback books are not splashy, but are lovely in their simplicity.
+ Card Pack
Simple, fast, fun, and purposeful, Tenzi is a perfect addition to your child's curriculum. In the original game players roll 10 dice, and reroll the ones that don't match until all 10 display identical numbers. Too easy? Opt for one of the many variations, like Splitzi (you must have five dice of one number and five of another), or Target Tenzi (you race to be the first to attain a numeric goal, for instance 56), or... well, the options are endless! Tenzi requires fast hands and the ability to make quick decisions and accurate calculations. Colors vary. Bonus 77 Ways to Play Tenzi card deck offers more ideas on how to use Tenzi to build math and logical thinking skills.
To help solidify your child's grasp of basic math facts, we include Wrap-Ups Multiplication and Wrap-Ups Division for hands-on drillwork. Your child simply wraps the string from the problem to the answer, then moves on to the next problem. Once he's completed the board, he can flip it over and check his answers. If the string lines up with the ridges on the back of the board, he's gotten them all correct.

With Laser Maze Jr. your child will use science and logic to reflect the laser beam and ignite the rockets. Laser Maze Jr. is a single-player game with 40 challenges from easy to super hard. Solutions are included! For ages 6 and older.
Visual perception training has never been this engaging! Q-bitz uses sixteen colorful cubes to recreate the patterns on the included cards. When one of our children was a preschooler, we received the best advice a parent of a kinesthetic child could receive: Let her wiggle. And wiggle she did. I don't think she sat for schoolwork for many years. Thinking Putty offers your child a way to move without becoming a distraction. An impressive, adult-sized handful of high-quality, moldable putty, the non-toxic, non-gooey Thinking Putty will bounce, stretch, tear, drip, snap, even shatter.
