This guide helps you know which books to use when and how to schedule your school year. A weekly schedule is included to give you enough structure to make sure your child doesn't miss anything, without the stress of an overly specific plan that leaves no room for the give and take of real life. |
By kindergarten, most students are fascinated by books and are truly ready to become eager readers, as long as they are not pushed too hard and fast. The Reading Lesson is ideal for this age with its easy pace, large text, and adorable line drawings. The logical progression of using both phonics and developmentally-appropriate sight-words (without all the rules) makes this program successful for these beginning readers. This is a very appealing program that doesn't take much time to implement. |

When you think of grammar, do you think of endless memorization and lengthy, tedious workbooks, suitable only for the most meticulous older student? If so, you're not thinking of Language Lessons! Language Lessons is the finest implementation of the Charlotte Mason method of instruction we've seen. The short daily lesson may include a picture study with a full-color painting, poetry appreciation, narration, copy work, or more. With only a few minutes at a time, your child will already begin cultivating language skills in kindergarten! |
Because we know that handwriting is a learned motor skill requiring regular practice, doesn't it seem that if your child is going to labor over something with his mind and hands, he should also engage his heart? A Reason for Handwriting does all three, even integrating Bible verses into later grades! In kindergarten, your student will focus on one letter per lesson built around a Creation theme. |

Math doesn't need to be tedious, and Mathematical Reasoning proves that with its bright pages, interesting story problems, and critical-thinking-based approach. Concepts spiral gradually, so that children do not forget as they go, and are written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. At this age, math is an interesting puzzle to be solved, and Mathematical Reasoning will not let it become tedious to your child. |

Children need to be taught how to think and how to reason, and the sooner the better, as 75% of a child's IQ will be developed before seven years of age. Developing the Early Learner fleshes out all four fundamental perception skills--visual, auditory, motor, and comprehension--via a gently progressive sequence of enjoyable activities. Very easy to use, this series of workbooks helps you discover and overcome your children's learning weaknesses while building their strengths. One test found that 95% of children who took the program significantly increased in their learning abilities! |

What Your Kindergartner Needs to Know emphasizes reading aloud to your child and also has ideas for a wide variety of activities. It includes twenty nuggets of history located in the middle of the book. These short stories about famous figures or simple synopses of USA history will help your child continue to develop the basics of a historical perspective and prepare him for jumping into a formal history program next year. One note: Don't feel obligated to do it all. (For instance, our family would not have read many of the fairy tales and fables at this age.) We primarily include it for its history, art, music, and math sections, so make those your priority and use the rest of the ideas as extra activities if time allows and your child is looking for more. |

Starting with the basics, Beginning Geography explains how a map works by mapping a child's bedroom. From there your child will develop map proficiencies, learn about animals around the world, and much more. Includes two big, full-color, fold-out maps for you to hang up and discuss! Based on National Geography Standards. |

Big, brightly colored, phonics-based readers that even have flaps to lift; what's not to love about Phonics Readers? You will set them aside until your child has completed enough of The Reading Lesson to enjoy the Phonics Readers, then allow your child the thrill of reading a "real book" all by himself! We include a hardback book which includes five complete stories, as well as five additional soft-cover books, each with one story. |
(also includes everything in Basic Package) |
| Timberdoodle's Complete Curriculum Kits include everything listed above plus loads of science, history sticker books, a complete set of GEOpuzzles, and additional hands-on tools to add sparkle to learning time. |
The a to z Magnatab is the ideal tool to help your child focus on forming letters correctly and consistently. Your child will eagerly trace each letter with the magnetic stylus just to see and hear the little metal balls snap to the surface to make the letter. Then, to further help him develop a feel for each letter, lightly trace over the letters with the tip of a finger and the metal balls clatter back into the a to z Magnatab base. One tool, two approaches to teach young children how to write the alphabet. |

I have yet to meet a young man who would not be fascinated by warriors past and present. Nor have I found a little lady who does not delight in the dressing of her playthings, be they baby dolls, paper princesses, or even the family pet. That makes the Sticker Dressing series the perfect fit for a kindergartner as a friendly and fascinating introduction to history. After all, if your child understands the warriors of different times, he or she will have a tremendously better grasp of wars, and thus of history itself. From ancient Greek soldiers to knights, First World War pilots to UN Peacekeepers, your children will love dressing the soldiers in these slice-of-history sticker books. The nearly two-hundred colorful stickers in Sticker Dressing Knights and one-hundred-eighty stickers in Sticker Dressing Soldiers include not only military uniforms but also typical accessories like weapons or tools. |

Using Geopuzzles, your kindergartner can learn with amazing accuracy the countries of Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia, as well as the states of the USA, with no effort on your part. Geopuzzle pieces are shaped like individual countries or states, so children learn as they put the puzzles together. Jumbo-sized and brightly-colored, Geopuzzle pieces are easy for chubby hands to manipulate. As children assemble the puzzles, they learn not only each country's name, shape, and capital, but where the country is located and how the entire continent fits together; all the while, they are building their thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and spatial awareness. |
A standard-sized pencil is often difficult for sweet, chubby fingers to grasp. These Jumbo Pencils make gripping easier with their large surface area, triangular shape, and appealing grippy nubs. |

This child-sized sharpener can sharpen both regular and jumbo-sized pencils, has a compartment to contain messy shavings, and a bonus eraser cap to keep the shavings where they belong, which is all you really need. The fact that the ergonomic Faber-Castell Fish Sharpener is fun to look at is just a bonus! |
Ready to introduce your kindergartner to the thrill of painting? Both practical and inspiring, Chirp Chirp correctly assumes that children prefer to create only after they have some basic skills. With everything your very young artist needs to understand how to mix paint colors, Chirp Chirp provides him with amazingly simple instructions and lovely materials to work with. Best of all? The finished paintings are entirely wall-worthy, perfect for your child's bedroom, dad's office, or Grandma's apartment! |

Would you like to introduce simple circuits to your kindergartner without placing a soldering iron in his hands? Then you need the Squishy Circuits Hardware Kit. Using homemade conductive and resistant playdough, your child will build electronic sculptures that light up and make sounds. Because it is playdough, your child will be able to explore a playful side of electricity in a fun, hands-on way. Squishy Circuits explores series and parallel circuits, polarity, and the creation of complex switches. Requires four AA batteries, not included. |
(also includes everything in Basic and Complete Packages) |
| Our Elite Curriculum Kits include all of the materials listed above along with even more bells and whistles such as games, a massive and gorgeous construction kit, more readers, and even maze books! |
 |
BrainBox games are not only a blast to play, but they can be extremely effective for developing essential memory skills. BrainBox My First ABC, with its profusion of colorful pictures, is a terrific way to reinforce both the alphabet and words associated with each letter. Your child will study a game card for ten seconds trying to memorize a variety of features. A die is rolled, and if the player can answer the corresponding question (e.g. How many spots were on the ladybug? What color was the butterfly?), the card is his. |
All the beginning readers I've met love the thrill of reading an entire book by themselves, especially when each book is as silly and fast-paced as these simple readers. Hold these aside until your child has completed enough of The Reading Lesson to be ready to read these. Includes thirty individual books which progress in difficulty. |

What child doesn't love the challenge of mazes? Mazes allow your child the opportunity to practice basic pencil control in an enjoyable, exciting way. These pencil skills are necessary for the legible writing of letters and numbers. Plus, because mazes are naturally absorbing, they help your child acquire the ability to reason, interpret, understand, and concentrate. These elemental skills are essential for later academics. |
Your child will practice the order of the alphabet, matching letters to a picture that starts with that letter, matching upper to lower case letters, matching letters in different fonts, and matching long and short vowels with pictures. To solve each puzzle, your child simply wraps the string from the problem to the answer, then on to the next problem. Once he's completed the board, he can flip it over and check his answers. If the string lines up with the ridges on the back of the board, he's gotten them all correct. |

Pajaggle Deluxe is the brain-tingling union of perplexing puzzle and electrifying game. Solving Pajaggle involves discerning not only very slight shape differences and locating the appropriate missing pieces, but also identifying the occasional piece within a piece called a Pajaggle Doubler. Pajaggle Deluxe is equipped with two complete sets of game pieces in different colors. If you have multiple children or if your child wants to play against dad, simply give each player his own set. The player who gets more of his color of Pajaggle pieces in the board wins. Tremendous as a brain-builder, the multi-sensory process actually means activity is happening on both sides of the brain! |

This is the star of the Timberdoodle Elite Kindergarten Curriculum, and with good reason. Combine striking Honduran hardwoods with strong, invisible magnets and you have set the stage for hours of imaginative play. Any wooden block has the potential to improve children's math, language, and creativity skills. But no other block can defy gravity like Tegu's. And because of polarity, trying to get two blocks to connect adds a curious puzzle feature to block building! Built to inspire whimsical play for generations, Tegu's natural colors, smooth finish, and very simple design make it stand out from all that is ubiquitous and short-lived. The Tegu Explorer contains forty blocks in seven shapes with multiple neodymium magnets safely embedded, plus a set of four magnetic wheels for even more creative play. You'll also receive an e-book with myriad designs for your child to recreate--when he isn't inventing his own, that is! |
