Timberdoodle's review   Imported from Germany, this nifty little sharpener does double duty. One opening is for harder leads, like your #2 pencil or the Prismacolor Verithin. The other opening is specially designed for professional color pencils with their softer leads, like any of the other Prismacolor sets. The Color Combi's razor-sharp, ultra-hard, high-carbon steel blade is curved, not flat. As it is cutting the pencil, it weaves slightly up and down, dynamically adapting to the fibrous structure of the wood instead of ripping straight through it. The cutting friction is reduced; therefore the pencil is easier to turn. In order to reduce wobble while turning the pencil, the sharpening hole is prolonged by an extra sleeve just forward of the inner cone. While the pencil is turning, that sleeve holds the outer pencil case, adding to the support provided by the cone-shaped part of the hole. Worth it! September 29, 2009 Reviewer: Carolyn Y. from Tacoma, Wa   This pencil sharpener is amazing. Expensive electric sharpeners are noisy and break; cheap little plastic sharpeners are dull and messy. This sharpener is quiet and sharpens to an angle that does not break easily. Plus it has a receptacle to catch the shavings. We tend to lose everything at our house, but even buying a few each year is worth it. Was this review helpful to you?

not a great competitor January 26, 2009 Reviewer: Anonymous person from Austin, TX United States   I buy new pencil sharpeners several times a year. Reading the description and the reviews, I hoped this one would last longer.  Within months the top would not stay on the bottom, and soon after that the sharpening part had become detached from the lid. Worked well at first... November 5, 2008 Reviewer: Colleen E. from Surrey, BC   This pencil sharpener worked well at first, but after a while, the lid came off easily, spilling the pencil shavings.  After a year or two, the plastic sharpener inside cracked off the lid of one of the sharpeners, so we couldn't use it anymore. We had three of these sharpeners, and all three lids became loose. I would still buy the sharpener again, though, since the price is good, and it does do a good job of sharpening pencils. Does a fantastic job!! October 17, 2008 Reviewer: Kate K. from Sacramento, CA   We have purchased many pencil sharpeners over our nine years of homeschooling, but there is only one that has lasted for longer than a single year. This kind of purchase may seem insignificant, but we use a lot of pencils in our five-student household! Not only does it work well for regular pencils, but it also does a beautiful job on the Prismacolor Pencils. Other sharpeners tend to be rougher on both kinds of pencils and this one does a fantastic job of sharpening over and over.
